Good info. priusboom & your car looks great:). For what it's worth, I don't think u paid too much as I paid about the same. And like u said, satisfaction & quality is what matters most in a tint job.

Will keep you posted on tinting, found a place that is wanting about $220 for the job. Their reputation is excellent.

Now to decide on the tint values. Here in Virginia the front doors have to be no more than 50% as you probably know. The shop is recommending 35% for the rest of the windows.

Not sure I want that or not; of course I would like all the windows to be of equal tint. Very linear in my "design" thinking.

    PriusBroom,

Your car looks SHARP! Love the look with the wheels and lowering kit. The tint finishes off the look very nicely. And by the way, I just had my Prius tinted yesterday, and I paid $460. They installed 3M Crystalline. It was quite a bit more than the other window films they offered, but it blocks much more heat and radiation than the other films (they had a really cool display to demonstrate this). I'm sure people will also say I got ripped off, but to make any kind of comparison, you need to ensure you are comparing equivalent factors (brand and model of film, as well as what part of the country you live in). and like you said, bottom line is they did a great job, and I am very happy with everything.

Quick question, they did not put the film on the small back window under the larger hatchback window (said it had to do with the type of glass). It doesn't matter I guess as that window is already tinted from the factory, but it seemed odd to me. Does anyone have feedback on this?

    Anyway, I like your car!

    Your car looks great man!

As for the tint, I got 20% on all windows but windshield for $200. I think this is a good average price for it. My tint guy has done my last 5 cars and does perfect work, quick, and never had any issues with quality of tint, install, fading, etc. I'm going to get my windshield done in 50% when I get time.

Bullydog...I asked the same question about the lower hatch window, too. They didn't tint it because it's tinted from the factory. On the outside they look fine, but on the inside it's a slight difference. I thought it would really bug me, but it really hasn't.

Op, do they have a warranty, and will they take it off for you if u get a fixit? 30% looks nice in the front, but also looks very obvious to cops. The price isn't bad, but IDK, the drive to Northridge is lol. I'm still shopping around for price/quality/location, and looking to get this done before summer hits.

Bullydog, your in the right ball park for the high end 3M stuff, Tint Shop here is SoCal was about the same when I called them. But I dont want the carbon material so I will see what the next one up is. The Cerramic is about 300 I think.

    OP-- it looks great!

I found a place near Baltimore for $210- looks good on their site
They offer the basic for $210 and the metalized comfort (better) for $295-15 coupon
The best is Pinnacle at $425

Does anyone feel like checking out if if products are good or I should keep looking?

    Aptinting.com

Can you post your place? $10 is nothing if the risk is a POS job
    Thx

I got mine done @ New Wave Tint in Gardena where I get all my tints done. Just ask for Brian(owner). Lifetime warranty & they will take it off for u. And, as for the back strip, he asked me if I wanted that tinted & when I asked for suggestions, he told me I should get it tinted because the 15% would be darker than the factory(which was pretty light). I'm glad I did because it looks much nicer, it's slightly darker but hardly noticeable from the outside plus I'm still able to see clearly from the inside:).

I tinted my rear lower hatch and love it. Its hard to match the color on the inside, but on the outside, it matched great.

:D For the smaller rear window under the wing, I'm considering 100% block-out mirror finish for the enjoyment of the jacked up trucks and high lighters behind me.

    Any ideas?

Got windows tinted today at Automotive tinting | Window Tinting Richmond
Cost: $150, time: 1 hour. This place has all the right equipment, film was computer cut, work room was air conditioned/ dust free.
I went with 35% all around, looks a little dark when viewing from the outside, guess I'm stuck with it.

$199. 15% back three windows, 20% driver/passenger windows. Yeah, not for everyone but it's perfect for me as I've had limo tints in the past so this is pretty light comparatively speaking;). If your interested, I'll pm the shops # to you. He has many other shades as well. FYI, I remember he had a cheaper quote for a different film but he recommended the Llumar which I went with.
