I am in San Diego (Carlsbad) So, does it mean, from the time "in transit" to arrival to my dealer will be another one-two weeks? I travel for business, and want to make sure to be in town that day. The dealer mumbles something all the time, but no concrete date. I called the 800 number at Toyota, the don't know squat. First got Florida, then was transferred to LA... same story... Even when you buy pizza and pay upfront... they tell when to pick it up. For $500 Toyota could be more responsive... what a big deal tell you when to expect your PIP.... at this age, when all so computerized.... I think they have too much of a big head... When I called Toyota LA, the lady said that not all Plugins made in Japan. Some are made in US. I am totally confused. Why all this shipshit tracking then???? And she also said it could be a month or more after the "in transit" go figure... I hate waiting and chasing.... On top of all that, I sold my 2006 Prius in Feb, when they sent me an e Mail, that it will arrive at the end of the month. So, now I have to drive a gas hog, and no light in the tunnel... They make this mystery to jack up the price for the next Plugin... so you can close your eyes on almost 13k increase in price... very smart...
I see my PIP page says, " In transit to port 3/9/2012". Is there any way to know which ship it's on? Thanks, radio
My order page also gives that date of in transit to port. I saw that the Overseas Joyce left on the 10th heading towards Bencia and Long Beach so I'm assuming mine is on that ship.
My vehicle also "in transit to Port" on 03-19-12. A posible ship carrier is Altair Leader which left Japan (Yokohama Port) on 03-21-12. Destination is Benica, CA with a ETA of 04-04-12. I believe the ships stop at Benica near San Francisco prior their stop at Long Beach.
My dealer is also Toyota Carlsbad. Their knowledge is weak, at best. At least for the salesman. I went to the dealer this afternoon loaded for bear. When I got there, they had magically discovered how to check the Toyota website. They gave me a printout showing transit on March 27th. It is in "F" status which means freight. So all the port processing is complete, and it now waits to be loaded on a truck. Now, was that all so hard? I mean, really. I had to visit personally to get anything other than a non-answer. I will probably get my car early next week, best guess. Dianne's customers don't have to guess. She tells them what she knows. It's not a commitment, just information. I bet they drive away in theirs before I do, based my dealer's performance so far. Still, early next week. Can't wait!
Just curious, when was it built? I wonder if your's is the one my dealer at TC mentioned in his text quote: Ok good news is that 1 unit moved to f for freight so maybe urs will move soon but urs status is not f for freight yet I keep cking and let u know 1:53 PM today, thanx he also said I am #3 in TC line...
Hi Radio, My In transit to port date is also 03/09/12. My vehicle is on the Overseas Joyce due to arive in port (Benicia) tomorrow 03/23/12. Most likely your car is also on that ship.

Oh cool, thanks bvoyles! I'm now in Vallejo, which is right next to Benicia so I might just go see if I can see em rollin' down the gang plank, ha!:cheer2:

That is excellent! I've also seen some tanker/cargo ships equipped with very large sails. They operate automatically to reduce the power required from the engines during blue water sailing. That reduces operating cost and pollution. Maybe they'll combine all these technologies into one ship.
Hi OilFreedom, My dealer (Toyota of Poway) informed me that based on his experience it takes about 1 week for the cars to arrive at the dealership from Long Beach. You should only have a couple more days wait. Hopefully it will be a sunny day so you can charge it up with free solar!
