How'd you find that photo? I've been all over the MarineTraffic.com site, but couldn't find those... very cool. Bob
just for those wondering about timing: 3/03-04/2012 - pyxis leaves japan, eta @ benicia 3/14 4PM local time 03/09/2012 - 'your prius plug in is on it's way' email 03/15/2012 - pyxis arrives at benecia early in the morning (~ 5AM) 03/16/2012 - 'your prius plug in is on it's way, final email update' email 03/23/2012 - took delivery of car at putnam toyota. the car may have been at putnam on 3/21 or 3/22, not sure.
Thank You. I was wondering about the time line. I thought my PIP was on the Overseas Joyce but I guess it was on the Pyxis because I got the final email last night from Toyota. Nice surprise.
My PIP was also on the Pyxis. I got my email yesterday from Toyota. It should be at the dealer today, but no word, as of yet.
As of this morning, 3/24/2012 @ 09:30, the Overseas Joyce has left Benicia and presumably, heading for Long Beach. Here comes your cars LA.... r
Mine was on the Pyxis and I was expecting it yesterday or today, but I got a call from the dealer today that it won't be delivered until late Monday and that I can pick it us Tuesday.
I can't find any info on the next port for RIO GREY, is it stopping in Florida? What's the ETA in Newark, and what is a good source that gets updated?
CSAV Rio Grey is just heading out into the Caribbean; I was told it'd make Jersey on 3/31, so I wouldn't *think* it'll stop in Jacksonville... but others have.
I am getting extremely frustrated by this entire process, and I am left feeling like an unloved stepchild. My PIP was also on the Pyxis. I also got the email from Toyota yesterday that my Prius is on the way and to call my dealer if I have any questions. So I called my dealer. The salesman is now saying three weeks! Huh? Are you kidding me? He is also very annoyed that I "keep calling and asking about my car". I have called him a total of three times. So I have a couple of questions: How is it that SKrueger's dealer called and gave a time to pickup their car? More to the point, why is it that my dealer HAS NO INFORMATION WHATSOVER? - other than what I learned a couple of days ago (It's in F status). I only learned this after a personal visit. Second question: how should I proceed? Is the next step to call and ask to speak to the Sales Manager? Or that also a waste of time, especially on a busy Saturday? Or should I jump directly to Toyota Customer Service? Or what? I would really appreciate some advice, and the benefit of what has worked for others.
Nothing yet. Very frustrating... Last time he said 20-26 March.... Toyota HQ in LA said it is way out more than a month.... I quit asking them... But, based on what I read here it should be on Altair Leader (it's out of range now). Someone who had it also "in transit" on March 19th figured out the ship... ETA April 4th in SF and then few days later in Long Beach... Sounds like PC is a much better source than any of Toyota officials... Ridicules at best...
Boy do I share your feelings! Too many dealers (or sales people) are little different from a lazy grocery checkout clerk. They are not in sales. They are in order taking. They are interested in the money they make and not the cars or the people they encounter in the process who are simply distractions and bothers. To answer your question "F" (or freight) status, if the car has been delivered to the U. S. port, means that the work of the port is done and the car is ready for shipment to the dealer. What you and I want is to be treated with respect and the due which comes with parting with a bundle of cash to get a PiP. You will get your PiP and it will not be very long from now. That salesman will not be any help, however. If his General Manager gets the sense that sales will fall from this salesman's attitude, he will be gone. Your being anxious will not do as much as calmly making it clear to the GM what is happening. The problem is that we want our PiP and must put up with this stuff to get it. Toyota (Erica) needs to know about this. Erica reads Prius Chat, but it is unlikely that she reads all of it.
My thinking... You will get it eventually... Dealers and their bosses will get paid eventually, anyway. There is no way to speed it up (unless the PIP was lost in action, or was stolen from the ship) Why would they bother? They understand the car is in great demand. So, you all are at their mercy. Those dealers who care be remembered and next time have your business again. They are in dramatic minority.... But what are others? Rocket scientists? I don't think so... I can think of only complaining to YELP.. It helped me once tremendously to straighten unscrupulous contractor... BBB are bureaucrats and they serve businesses and are paid by them for membership, not customers.. And don't buy from them again... Although it is also a matter of convenience, what dealer is closer to you... Sad.... This is all from my experience... did not want to upset anybody..
Ha ha, yeah. Me too! Just watched New Century sail out of Jacksonville headed to Newark. Due there on Monday.
Based on past ships, CSAV Rio Grey will be in Jacksonville in 4 day and then another 3 to Newark. So, it should be in Newark one week from today - March 31st.
