the bladder when empty, is not a big empty bag. its a collasped bag that will "burp" at best very little when filled since very little air is displaced

I'm here in Southern Lower Michigan. Filling up the Prius is one of the most frustrating experiences I have had with this car. Anybody that lives in a northern climate understands this frustration of trying to get this car filled and it is 15 degrees, windy and snowing. The pump continues to click, click, click shutting off each time. I've tried the methods listed here with no avail. I don't mind if I get the tank 95% filled but it does bother me when the tank is empy and this process starts after 3 gallons have been put in the tank.

I do agree that Toyota should correct this problem. I shouldn't have to hold my breath each time I fill up to see if I'm going to get 2 gallons or 6 gallons in the tank before it shuts off.

I had that problem as well, but someone on another thread suggested holding the gas nozzle upside down when filling. That has worked for me with every type of nozzle.

Tell that to the gas that nearly gushed out, and was stopped in time, and to the air bubbles I was able to bleed out to prevent further gushing. I'd say at least a cup of air was trapped, and who knows how much came out of the vent tube before the fuel level went past the lower end of the vent tube.
