Just picked up a Prius V5. We are still figuring out how to use everything but want to use the vecicle to transport some f my tools, golf clubs etc. We will probably have the back seats down most of the time. I am looking for a liner that will go over the back seats so they do get damaged. Has anyone found or bought something like this. The mats from weatherguard, Husky etc all assume the seats are up. I have not found a universal mat that works either. Only 58 miles so far, but love it (except for the beeping going backwards and my passenger not being able to program the nav)

I usually get a carpet remnant and cut to fit, but in Southern California we do not have snow, ice , etc.

I was looking for protection of the cargo area for transporting my 80 lb golden retriever. Ordered a K&H Quilted Cargo Cover from Amazon. Havent got it yet so cant tell you how it fits but I like that it can hook to the rear seats and it also covers the side of the vehicle. They go anywhere from $50-60. Probably could be used for carrying other things as well.

I went to the hardware store (OSH) and bought a rubber backed 4'x8' carpet mat for $25, then cut it to fit around the wheel wells. Not difficult at all with some good scissors and using the original mat as a template for the rear. The best part is that it rolls up to be a 5 inch diameter cylinder (secured with bungee cords), so it's easy to store in the car when not in use.

Not quite as nice as a factory made item, but if I ruin it by spilling something, I'm not out much money, either.

Mac would you post a pic of this when you have time? I'm trying to decide between a husky type liner or something like this. How is the fit in the v? W

I rarely put the rear seats down so I went with the Husky Liner. It's a little thinner than I thought it would be, but it fits well and seems like it will stand up to decent abuse. I'm going to pick up a small tarp to keep in one of the rear storage areas for when I've got the seats down.

I definitely will once I get it. But if you cant wait you can always go to Amazon and search for it. They have a pretty good pic of it but cant tell what kind of vehicle its in. Looks similar to space for the v. I also liked it has an extended flap that can protect the bumper for when your dog jumps in.

Wanderer - finally got the cover. Originally ordered grey but vendor wouldnt have til mid April and I needed one sooner so go the tan. I am impressed with the cover. If fits just about perfect. With seats up, attaches to head rests and you can use included velcro strips to keep the sides up. Picture shows sides down since I havent decided where I will put the velcro but it will do a great job of covering the entire cargo area. If you put the seats down, it adjusts to lie flat pretty nicely as well. I also love the extra part to cover the bumper. Folds up easily for storage. Bought on Amazon for $50.

Please let us know how it attaches to the sides- thinking it wants velcro affixed to the sides.
Hope it works out for you.

So far so good. My main need was to protect and cover the area from my golden retrievers hair which can get all over the place. Its a quick setup and break down and I just fold it and leave it in the back. Would have been nice to have the gray one to match my car but looks like they still dont have them in stock.

We just picked up our "V" yesterday. We have 2 goldens that we take out regularly in our 08 Prius and so it's good to see a review of possible coverings in here for the "V". In our 08 we were just using an old Civic rubber trunk liner. It worked well enough. The "V" however has more headroom and space for the dogs to stick their heads over the seat. That also means more space for hair to float up and toward the front.

So MAC, how well does that mat hold the free floating hair down?

I use a liner designed for a 4Runner. Works very well. I never worry about spills of solids or liquids. Helps keep the interior very clean.
