Hi everyone. 18 happy days into Prius ownership and already have 1,800 miles on my 2012 type 2. Traded in my 2004 Nissan Murano AWD for the Prius and although I loved my MO (That is what we affectionately called our Muranos on the nissanmurano.org forum), and it did get great gas mileage for the type of vehicle it was, I do not miss having to fill up its 22 gallon tank!
I am glad I found this forum. There seems to be lots of knowledgeable members here.

Thank you. I now have MODs on my mind! To start I am thinking fog lights, side moldings, leather seats, backup camera (since I already have the color monitor), and maybe even HIDs. I am reading up on this forum every chance I get for DIY but it seems 2012 is different from earlier gen III Prius, at least as far as head unit and fog lights are concerned, so maybe I should wait until more info is available.

    Hello fellow Nubie,
I've had mine for a month and 1400 miles. I've installed the Clazzio leather covers, probably would have gone with the Katkinzs leathers if I had to do it again, and am now trying to figure out how to keep my Daytime Running lights on all the time, Just got Coverking 40 oz carpet mats and dash cover, and am going for the $4.00 center cap idea talked about elswhere.

    Enjoy your new ride,

This morning I disabled reverse beep as well as seat belt beep. Now there is peace and quiet! Next, if I could get my hands on a 2012 service manual. I know there is a Toyota site where I can buy a two day subscription but I cannot find it. Searching on this forum has not helped much either, I am sure info is there so maybe I am not using the right keywords. I will keep trying...

    Welcome!

I also have a 2012 2 and love it-especially after changing the reverse beep ;-).

The reverse beep can be modified in one of two ways on a Gen 3 car -

    1) Ask the Dealership to change it from multiple beeps to single
    2) Get an OBDII device for your computer or Bluetooth and use an OBDII application. There is a thread in one of the many tech forums here that will step you through it.

I used a Elmscan5 and the program written by JerryLaz on post #175 of below thread to disable the beeps on my 2012 Prius:

    http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...m/62494-2010-help-disabling-reverse-beep.html

I have not had much luck finding the 2012 repair manual though. From research here the 2 day subscription to TIS will give me access to the manual in a format that cannot be saved. Plus availability is only up to 2011, not 2012. I will keep looking because I want to have the manual before I start any mods!
