Sprint has apparently started selling the Ericsson T608 (the first Bluetooth enabled phone available for Sprint). Has anyone had success getting the Prius Bluetooth to talk with the T608?

I did a little more research with Sprint at 1-866-PCS-AUTO, and they say the T608 will talk with all Toyota products. The phones are on backorder right now.

I purchased a T-608 last month and it was easy to install, working great!
The ringer is not very loud ,I have the phone in the little compartment below the CD player.

I've been using the T608 with the 2004 Prius since December. Usually it works pretty well. Sometimes (about 10% of the time) the Prius's LCD indicates an incoming call and the radio mutes, but I can't hear anything. When this happens, I have to pick up the phone, hold it up to my face, and talk as if no bluetooth, which is annoying. I haven't seen a pattern in when this does or doesn't happen.

I'm not sure of the reason why, but the Sony-Ericsson T6xx phones all have a delay after the call connects before the caller actually hears you. Sometimes, even though the call connects and the stereo mutes, I press the off-hook button on the wheel just in case. I was thinking maybe the car's system is getting confused or something. In any event, I've never had an incoming call that I couldn't talk to using the hands-free even when it's been annoyingly delayed.

Can anyone post the instructions needed to get the Sony T608 set up to work with Verizon Wireless? It has been done but you have to make some programming changes to the phone before and after activating it on Verizon.

    Steve,

I do not believe you can switch the phone over any longer. I do not recall if it was a manufacturing fix or an update sent over the Vision network, but the loophole was fixed.

I've heard there are already modified phones available on eBay and such.

I've got the same problem with incoming calls -- the car recognizes the call, radio mutes, but the call itself doesn't go through the speaker. :( Even after trying for a few seconds, I'll have to pick up the phone. I was wondering if this had to do with keyguard being on or something. Outgoing calls always work. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Here is the problem: sometimes the default mode of the phone is not set to the car. Once you make or recieve a call on the car, the mode usually stays there. Just to make sure, when you get in your car, call your voicemail or something to see if the sound goes to your Prius, or your phone. If it goes to the phone, you can switch it over to the car and only need to the first time.
during your first call, incoming or outgoing or vm etc, click on the Preferences (the bottom left of the 4 clear buttons, then click the center nav button UP once, then select. You can now transfer the conversation to the car.

    Hope this helps, Jim

PS all future calls during this drive will go to the car automatically.

Has anyone figured out how to upload the address book from the phone to the Prius? I see how to upload individual contacts, but not the entire address book. Any help would be appreciated.

Go to Phone Book --> Business Cards --> Send All. That will send your phone book to the Prius. (I didn't figure this out -- someone on the 2004-prius yahoo group posted it first).

I just received a Sony T608 with its correct MSL code # and the detailed instructions for getting it connected to Verizon. It worked without any problems except that it says Sprint on the phone and in all the menu descriptions. My Prius is not here so it will be awhile before I can try the phone in the car but I'm pretty sure it will work. I bought a second T608 for my wife but it did not come with its MSL# so I'm stuck until someone can tell me where to obtain that number.

    Maybe this'll help:

    http://www.t608.com/modules.php?name=News&...=article&sid=15

jgrahamiii writes "Per several posts over at www.cellphonehacks.com, as of February 4, Sprint PCS closed a back door that allowed non-Sprint employees to get the MSL for their phones. This means, at least for now, that you cannot buy a code to switch a T608 to Verizon. You might still be able to find a T608 over on Ebay where the code was already determined, , and one person suggest that with a Serial Cable and a program called BitPim, you might be able to extract it from a file in the phone itself, but I haven't seen anyone who actually did this."

I was able to switch mine over a couple of weeks ago, way after Feb. 4th. I was also able to get the MSL# by first opening up an account with Sprint, having them walk me through the programming and then telling the tech that the phone was telling me I needed the MSL# (it wasn't). He gave it to me no questions asked. It cost about $36 dollars to open and then close a Sprint account. Once I had the MSL number, it was relatively easy to switch it over to Verizon.

One other tip: After I had programmed the phone, I called Verizon to give them the ESN number so the phone would work on their network. The guy on the phone wouldn't accept the number as he could tell that I didn't buy the phone directly from Verizon. So then I went to the Verizon Wireless web site. I was able to enter the ESN number with no problem what so ever. The phone started working a few minutes later.

    Hope this helps.

What will I have to give Sprint to get the MSL#?
    ESN# ?
    Serial#?
    Something else?
    Thanks.

I just called them and had the guy walk me through programming the phone to use on the Sprint network. At the end of the call, I said I needed the MSL# and he just gave it to me.
