Rack and Hitch

    Hi all,
    Hoping some Prius v owners with kayaks and/or bikes can chime in.

    1. Is putting 2 kayaks (~120lb) doable on the Prius v? We are worried it might not make it on some long Rocky Mountain climbs.

    2. Thoughts on wear on the engine and structure of the car if trips like this only happen 5-6 times a year?

    3. Addition of 2 adult bikes and have 1 kid on the way (hopefully 1 or 2 more!) Weight concern on hitch+bike.

    We've visited the dealer 3 times and it just seems that they don't know very much so we are thinking about going to a different dealer and ask the local rack/hitch dealers.

    Any thought is much appreciated and would love to hear from current v owners who drive around with kayaks.

    There are quite a few posts in the Gen III forums about hitches+bike racks and roof racks. I ordered a Curt hitch for our v3 but it is sitting in OR due to the unreasonable shipping cost to AK ($0 to OR and $95 to AK). Plus all of our water is still frozen anyway so the canoe isn't going anywhere.
