    Usually not.

    Take invoice- then:
    Add Destination Fee
    Add Advertising Fee (AKA Holdback)
    Add Doc Fee
Add port added options (carpet floor mats, etc..)
    Add Prep Fees

    Hello,

I'm assuming it was Ira Toyota in Milford, MA.?
If so, who did you work with?

I did pay $460 under the sticker, but I got a lot of extra "genuine" Toyota accessories that were installed by Southeast Toyota. I got the "protection" package including the clear rear bumper protector, full window tinting, carpet floor mats and some other stuff. The list was close to $900 for this stuff.

North Atlanta area with a trade (at NADA "good" trade value), paid $400 over South East Toyota (SET) price (26,400 roughly) for Prius V Two. Wasn't hard to do, but did this 1st week of March and it was a rainy Sunday when they hadn't sold a car yet...

So you can go lower but maybe not during the summer months when gas is high... Remember that $1000 in price difference buys a lot of gas so wait till the fall if you are getting high prices. Toyota dealers love to hear customers complain about MPG during the peak summer driving months by the way... It's like selling candy to a baby.

So don't be a sucker! Now... :focus:

Do you mind telling me what the OTD price was? Is it just the $25,900 plus tax?

I am about to purchase a v5 w ATP. They have sticker prices here of 37k I see people talking about 25,900 for v 3s...so lets say 30-32k for a v5..if that's the difference I can fly to Cali and drive back for that kind of savings.. I will be paying cash so I think that gives me a lot of negotiating power..give me some advice here guys..I am getting a pretty nice chunk of money in the next month..somewhere after the 5th of April.. Can someone give me an idea before tax, title and license what kind of price I should be looking at for a fully loaded v?

Run the numbers on AAA's car buying service. If the dealer who quotes is too distant to your liking, take the quote to your local dealer to see if they're willing to match. I did exactly this and got what I consider to be a great deal and without game playing either. I paid the quote plus sales tax, no addional add ons!! ($2000 under sticker, 200+ below invoice.) The only problem today, it appears California is getting all the priuses!!!

I would contact Dianne if you are willing to travel as well as a few large cities that are close to you through TrueCar.com. I do think I read somewhere that Dianne shipped a car as well to someone in the Midwest. (my memory can't be trusted but ask about that as well)

Just to try and set expectations I went in buying a pair v and still paid over $250 over invoice but for my region and unwillingness to travel too far that was a good price. For a cash purchase you will do better buying one in stock I would think. Dealers are typically more motivated on cars on the lot.

For a v5 with ATP will be invoiced around $34,900. Then add port options, delivery, and such it will go up. Dealers have around a $600 holdback and I would probably go for $100-250 under invoice as my goal. They will show you the invoice if you ask. If you buy extended warranties go through warrantyshack.com. He is much more affordable than any dealer I've seen but there are many like this he is just well known PC. It's hard to get the deals on a new and popular model car but prices seem better in FL and CA from my brief observations here. Enjoy!

I got an extremely good deal on Prius V Three w/ carpet/mat on 3/30/12. Got it for $1,198 below invoice, or $3,160 below MSRP. I think the dealer was anxious to meet some quota for March. No hassle at all as it was on the newspaper ad and their website. Two to choose from (silver or red). Chose the silver with 12 miles on the odometer. Super happy.

    MSRP: $28,150
    Sale Price: $24,990
OTD Price: $27,487.19 (w/ 8.75% sales tax, plus DMV fees)
    Ivoice: $26,188 (per Edmunds.com)
    "True Market": $27,114 (per Edmunds.com)

No, kept my old car. Walked in around 6:00pm, test drove around the block a few times. Drove the car home 8:15pm without detailing because the shop was closed. Back to dealer 2 days later for the detailing. The most painless car purchase I have ever had.

That's a pretty unbelievable deal, hearing stuff like that makes me wish I was a little more patient when we bought our v3! Mind if I ask which bay area dealership you went to? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to publicize it.

That was Concord Toyota. That ad for Prius V Three (MSRP $28,150, sale $24,990) was in the 3/30 newspaper and the dealer's website. They did not run the ad again and their website had the ad until about 4/1. Their inventory now (per their website) is 2 for the Three trim, but at a "TRUE Price" of $27,641. $27,641 doesn't sound that good.

One more thing, the ad actually said "NEW 2012 PRIUS-V TWO". However, the MSRP on the ad matched that of a Three. I called and the salesman confirmed that it was actually a Three before I went in. Maybe their ad guy actually meant to set the sale price for a TWO but put down everything else as a Three? Anyway, I got the deal and am driving the car.

That's exactly what I was thinking, it might have been a mistake, the price you got sounded like a good (but not great) deal for a v 2. But regardless of why, that was a GREAT price for a v 3. Thanks for sharing the story.

I just bought my wife a v3 for $26,118 + DMV & taxes. Pretty much at invoice according to edmunds. I was able to get this price after sending emails to several dealers in the area (San Diego).
