Mine changed to a status of Freight yesterday, which according to Jim Coleman in Maryland indicates a delivery about 5 days later at the dealership. I read somewhere on PC that F means that the car was processed at port, options installed, and is ready to be shipped to the dealer. I should get it on Monday.

Not me; I'm buying my PIP in Alexandria, VA, spoke to my salesman the other day. He said my car would definitely NOT be at the dealership by this weekend, but I'm hopeful it'll be there by the 13th (next Friday).

I"m going to keep calling him till I get a firm date; I've got to fly up from Nashville.

Altair Leader is rapidly approaching Long Beach.
    tonight... most likely, be docked...
    tomorrow offloaded, hopefully
then, on the truck, to happy dealer/owner...
    6-8 March at the dealer...
this whole waiting thing drives me nuts....
I wish had no access to tracking...

lwill there be enough PIPs for everyone? ever?

It's Easter weekend gang. No one at port will be hurrying anything thru this weekend. That's one of the reasons I chose this Saturday and Sunday off out of the entire month.

fberger, I got mine from the same dealership. Was emailed on 3/19 that my car was in freight status and on 3/23 I got email that it was at the dealership. I picked it up on 3/29 which was the soonest I could get there from PA due to other commitments.

i think it's more than that. you can read many threads here with many different reasons, but i'm hoping it's the next step in the process of moving away from fossil fuels and more importantly, importation of it and the grief it causes globally. and, of course, potential environmental benefits from increasing alternative power sources which can't be accomplished with gas fueled cars. pips aren't the answer, but hopefully, they're part of a future solution. plus, i can't wait for the fun of driving electric and somehow trying to make my 14.5 mile commute without the engine coming on!:cheer2:

There are certain products we purchase that we feel will change how we live our lives. The original iPhone was one (for me, anyway), and it seems to me the PiP will be another. Once we've decided to purchase such a product, we get kind of tired of doing things the old way and are anxious to get on with the new. I've been keeping a ten-year-old Jetta with a bad transmission limping along for the past two years, just waiting for the day the PiP becomes available. I'm anxious for the PiP to arrive, not just because I want my PiP, but more generally because I want to drive a decent, functional car again. That'll be a big change in my life, and I'm anxious to get on with it.

If only Toyota had the shipment tracking abilities of Apple. I've found the notifications from Toyota to be torture--a dribble of useless information provided at random intervals weeks apart, but never what I actually want to know. I don't really care what day it was loaded onto a ship. Telling me that just gets my hopes up that I'll see the car soon, hopes that have been dashed week after week. I'm guessing that the car is on the Altair Leader that docked today in Long Beach, and maybe I'll see the car by the end of next week. But I don't even know it's on the Altair for sure. For all I know it'll be May or June before the damned thing arrives. Wouldn't be surprised at this point.

What Apple does, which Toyota should emulate, is tell you the date it will arrive. That's all I want to know; if they tell me that I'll get it on June 1st, then that's fine. At least I know what to expect. Telling me it shipped on March 19th, and then going into weeks of radio silence is just mean.

Agree with you 100%, Tom.... Let's hope yours is in Long Beach too. My dealer confirmed, and mine was also shipped on March 19Th.

I think they do it on purpose.. to crank up our excitement and make PiP more desirable, bring a little mystery and unknown in the process, not letting you cut to the chase like Apple does... So in the end it does change your life more, cause you waited for that change so long...

I emailed my dealer on 4/4 and he said it should arrive to port NY on 4/9 and then shipped to them.

I check my online status and it shows Arrived In Port.

So it looks like the ship is ahead of schedule and maybe we'll see it at the end of next week? :cheer2:
