Whew - drove it 400 miles today plus a side trip up pikes peak!. My highway speed was 78mph (not pikes peak speed) and I used cruise control because I just don't want to work that hard on a long trip. Still I was getting 45 mpg which is pretty darn good for that kind of speed I think. I saw a couple of Vettes and every time I felt sad I punched up the consumption screen , looked at the mpgs and felt better.

    800 miles to go tomorrow.

I sooooo need a good sound system with an ipod interface.
Also what's with the battery only staying at 3 or 4 bars ?? More chat forum searching .....

Maybe if you doing a lot of climbing? On flat terrain however it should be mostly staying around 6 bars.

    Diane,
You should have an aux input in the center console (maybe?). If you do have one find it by doing this:
Open the center console, look down and to the right, on the front panel of the center console, for an aux input. If so, you just need a male to male mini stereo jack to hook it up.

My bad - it's really around 4 or 5 bars. I see from searching the forum that it's behaving normally.

So total trip was 1170 miles. Average mileage for the entire trip was 40 mpg at a speed of 77 mph which I feel is actually pretty great!

Tried putting higher octane into it for a tank and no change in consumption - which I later found that everyone else on the forum experienced as well.

I has the Overheat flash on 3 times during the last couple hundred trip for maybe one second (then nothing)- that scared my a bit but I read up in the forum and discovered the issue. Signed up on the Toyota website and found that the coolant pump call back had not been preformed on my vehicle so I am going to call the dealer and arrange for that to be done ASAP.

Aside from the radio being "meh" (like every other car) I think this is splendid vehicle.

Great. I recently drove through San Jaquin Valley at a similar clip and observed similar fuel economy (and what might have been passer envy). ;) Batt levels are likey due to drain on batts to support engine at such high speed. Not sure.

I assume that your package does not have the AUX function and jack in center consol -- correct? If no, an iPod adapter plugged into cig lighter (12v source) will "speak" to your radio and allow for iPod music in the car. Look on eBay.

    Have fun!

Oh those RF transmitters are the worst sound quality ever  I'm looking for decent sound, actual iphone/ipod control from the screen and bluetooth phone functionality. So I bought a Pioneer 3400BH, the metra connection kit, scoche double din faceplaet, ASWC interface and I got some right hand bluetooth buttons from ebay that I am going to swap out with the existing non-bluetooth steering wheel controls. The metra ASWC will allow the new buttons to work with the Pioneer.

So expect several HOWTOs in the next week or so in the audio section.
