When I first got my Prius in Oct of 2011, I was getting verbal traffic alerts along with my traffic directions (I have the Prius III with nav).
Then I renewed with Sirius at the 6 month discount rate, and my traffic alerts stopped.

I thought the audio traffic alerts were part of my nav package, but apparently I will have to purchase a more expensive Sirius plan in order to start getting the alerts again? The monthly rates for the other Sirius plans (other than the discounted 6 mo plan I selected) seemed very expensive I wonder if Sirius will lower these rates upon request.

there's a separate Sirius traffic plan. I got a 12/month music plan, 2 years in a row, for $72 plus tax and fees, total was around $90/year - that's without traffic. That was cool, but I don't travel enough to justify it

Sounds like you got a good deal. $90 per year after taxes.

And thanks for verifying that I would need a separate Sirius plan for traffic. As I have a pretty long daily commute, it may be worth me paying whatever that they charge for the traffic plan next renewal.
