    Short of changing out the steering rack ($$$), I don't think it's possible.

    I want to make sure that I don't make a purchase I regret. You say it's your first rule of thumb but how much would you compromise there? I know that weight on a wheel isn't the same as weight in the car but if I'm looking to get some 16's, trying to stay under 15.5lbs really limits the options... even if I increase my budget. The wheels that caught my eye weigh 18.5... heavier, but not bad compared to many other options. They are exactly what I'm looking for but I don't really have a grasp on how much it would affect my mpg or acceleration.

    Does anyone know how much the 16" alloys weigh?
