Assuming that some breakthrough in battery or fuel cell technologies had not come to market I would without question buy another hybrid that uses HSD drive or equivalent, such as a Prius. Other hybrids, not so much.

I already did. We bought a TCH in 2007 and recently a 2012 Prius, so we're a two hybrid couple.

No, what would be the point ? A poll at dieseldriver no less

I voted with my wallet, and bought another HSD hybrid in December.

    I didn't vote.
I didn't think I should, since "my" hybrid is a company car, so I didn't buy it.....I just drive it.

I tinkered with the idea of getting an HSD hybrid as a third vehicle, but it was the CFO's turn for a new vehicle, and her former vehicle is in pristine shape (06 Envoy w/116,000k) so it made much more sense to keep that one as a third vehicle.
A few things work against me for getting a 'brid. Very nearly all of my driving is highway, and I have a tow requirement of at least 1500#. The fuel cost delta between a 40-mpg vehicle and one that gets 50 is now at about $2000 per 100,000 miles if my math is right, and so for right now I'd have to eschew an HSD powered vehicle as a replacement for my primary vehicle.
If I wanted a second vehicle payment right now (I don't!) I'd probably kick the Sierra to the curb and get a compact, tow capable replacement vehicle with close to a 40-MPG highway rating.

"My" Prius is a great vehicle....it just wouldn't work out so well for me if I had to pay for it....especially at today's inflated prices for hybrids.

    JMHO! :)
    YMMV!

We've had a long history with Toyota and would totally consider a PIP in the future. Unfortunately, the current PIP isn't enough of a game changer from the Prius we have now, esp. for the PIP price. It would have to be a "wow" hybrid as we're really loving the "no gas", even less maintenance than our Prius, LEAF EV.

Please bring it on Toyota... more awesome hybrids or electric vehicle choices!

Yup. Just sold one and bought another. 159,000 miles on the old one with no major repairs beyond tires, oil, and filters. :)

Debro, I just replaced my 2006 with a new 2011 last year. Some good and some bad concerning the new one over the old one. Overall, I am happier with the 2011. I would not buy another Prius however. I had the misfortune of losing one of my key fobs. Replacement cost average after calling 3 dealerships was $500.00! There has got to be a better way.

I DID buy another hybrid! Silly news media! Of course not everyone does. Lives change. That usually means their needs change.

As usual, the fancy new forum has hidden the "poll" so -I- can't find it. So sorry, didn't vote!

I also bought another... 3 times.

This reminds me of the past, when anything "Prius" related would draw reader, they'd publish it. The content itself wasn't all that important. It was all about drawing attention to the publisher.

I absolutely would and doubt this will be my last. The Prius has done everything I expected out of it and I'm at 39k with zero issues.

That said, there's a strong chance my next vehicle won't be a hybrid. I am contemplating buying another minivan. If I go that route it's because I want capacity. Large hybrids like the Highlander Hybrid are so grossly overpriced as to be irrelevant. And, chances are I'd choose a V6 Sienna over a Prius V. The Sienna is a bit cheaper and although it is certainly worse on gas it's also massively, hugely, vastly larger.

Even at $4 gas a large "gas guzzler" is not terribly unaffordable, and there are real size sacrifices required to drive a hybrid.

After 6-1/2 yrs of driving my '05 Prius with no issues whatsoever, I would ONLY buy a hybrid as my next vehicle. To me there's no other choice....at the moment.

When the '05 gets to 275K-ish in the next year or two I'll begin to decide on which model will replace her. I like the new TCH's which are nearly as efficient as my current Prius but I've grown attached to the hatchback's flexibility.

But being cheap whichever I choose will be USED.
