new here, but have been lurking :p
ok im a big guy 6'1, w extremely broad shoulders (i swear my shoulders end in a 90° angle.) and was wondering how the driver seat is comfort wise. i'd just go for a test drive but my closest dealership is about 30m away. i was was stuck between C2 & C3 amenities wise as well. C2 has it with the adjustable seat, & CC (both musts) yet the C3 also has nav. I'm sure i could just plug in my droid and switch to nav, but if my kid see's it.... let's just say out of site out of mind. So i guess my question would be what are the pure amenities of the C3 besides the moon-roof? is it worth the additional 2k extra? i see mixed specs on diff pages.

Also i haven't purchased a car since 2000 so i forget if the tinted windows have to be added on?

I have the 4. The moonrooof is nice but it's a personal choice kind of thing. The wife wanted the car loaded, so we got it loaded.

I'm six ft 2 and 240. The C is fine by me for comfort. The seat is a LOT better than our '09 Prius, but I still feel a bit like I'm sitting on rather than in. It's growing on me, though. Maybe it just takes a while to form the seat.

We have the nav but haven't explored it much. I'm an old school navigator, but like my TomTom. I wonder if the Prius navhas a British chick voice in it...

I'm between 6' - 6'1 and drive a P3. I'm actually more comfortable in this car than I have been in most of my previous vehicles. I was surprised at the interior space, it's truly deceptive from the outside. the headroom was probably the most shocking thing, I feel like I have a mile between my head and the roof.

Yesterday was the first time I gave the Nav system a workout. We took a drive down to Atlantic City and used the system both ways. I can say that I'm pretty happy with it versus my standalone TomTom device. Here are a few things that stand out about it :

    1. no competition between my music and GPS directions. the music is automatically lowered and the voice comes through the stereo speakers. no more directions getting drowned out. I can blast the tunes and not have to worry.

    2. plenty of notice of upcoming turns. by default it warns me a 1/2 mile out, 300 yards out and just before a turn. more than my TomTom seemed to.

    3. system gets a GPS lock exponentially faster than my TomTom. as soon as I load the GPS app, it's got a lock.

    4. avoidances are very easy to set. I like to avoid toll roads and there's an option to avoid freeways which might come in handy for us since we get better mileage in town than on the highway.

    5. street names pronounced well.

    6. screen refreshes at a decent rate. faster than my standalone unit but not as fast as Google Nav on a smartphone. good enough for me.

    7. HUGE screen with good touch response and no brackets to fiddle with or fall off, no wires dangling around, and no GPS unit to stash in the glovebox.

I guess you can say I'm happy with the built in Nav :)

I have the PC 2, without nav.

I know I am missing out on these good features, but I would rather save a few $$
Without it, I cannot miss it unless I had it before...which I did not!

Yes, drivers seat has a large area.
We have a infant seat in the rear middle, so the passenger is a little tight with leg space.
But I am 5'6 with short legs, so I need the seat adjusted a bit forward, so no problem.
Without the infant seat, driver and passenger would have no prob adjusting for what they need.

I really like the nav and the moonroof alot but I've never had them before this car so i probably wouldn't have missed them. The feature i love most is the smart key system which means you never have to fumble with keys. And i really do like the touch screen for the stereo and nav along with the sattelite radio. I find the seats very comfortable and the car is much more spacious than it appears, very similar to my Honda Fit i drove previously. There's pretty good seat travel for taller drivers and the seat sits pretty low in it's lowest position to provide good head room.

That's the feature I dislike the most. Don't ever have two Prius' because the fob's interfere with each other. My wife has to hold her key outside the window so I can start my car. It's absolutely crazy.

Luckily i don't have that issue although my girlfriend drives a Lexus with the smart key system and we never have any interference. That would be frustrating.

Thanks for the responses! smart key sounds good. i'm notorious for losing keys. for those of you that have the C3 & C4 are the amenities beyond C2 worth the price? I know it's a matter of preference, but say for those of you that use nav, is it better over tomtom and smartphone? Looks like j_benj could answer this q best. So lastly if you could do it again would any C3 or C4 buyer re-buy your current model or get the C2? Lastly did anyone get the V.I.P. Security System? Lastly, how is it in terms of cargo vs the prius GII & III? wifey was just looking at it and thought it had hardly any cargo room. so she was concerned with space for long trips.

update, ok we had pretty much decided on either the C3 or the GIII 2, i'm leaning towards the C3 because i noticed something else...the moonroof (im a romatic @ heart so the moonroof would be a huge plus for starlit nights :) ). wifey is still worried about the cargo room, looks like the C3 has 4 c/ft less than the G3 2. how much is that in terms of actual space? like one less suitcase? would that less space be a dealbreaker for anyone else? looks like we may have to just take a trip to the dealer.

Seats are terrible. Several conversations about uncomfortable Prius seats. Nothing you'd notice on a short test ride but by the time you got the car home after 30 mile run you'd be noticing it.

Get a Prius3/4 to get the power seats. As for the solar roof/sun roof. Fun option. If you park car outside, it is great. You don't have to leave the windows open to keep car at "room temperature". Probably saves on interior wear as it doesn't get blasted with 200F greenhouse temps on sunny days.

Sun roof is always nice. Plus all back roof gives the car and "edgier" look. Spring for the iridescent Pearl paint, looks great and wards off the sunlight.

Prius3/4 has other good toys, the 7" Nav display works with XM Traffic, Weather, Fuel prices while the 6" requires using your phones internet connection which can be costly and problematic if you out of cell range. Plus the 7" high def screen looks much better. You also get Auto/On/Off headlights, a safety necessity in my view that you only get on Prius3/4.

UPDATE: Whoops see you are talking about C. There is another thread, person your size who says C seat is so bad for him he's looking to trade out of the car.

I guess they have to be of similar age? We have an '05 and '10 and I haven't experienced any interference when we sit in each other's cars with keys from the other Prius in our pockets.

I find the seat in the 3 to be very comfortable for me. It's a softer seat than my Honda Civic was, which I'm very glad about. I have lower back issues so for me to like a seat is a big deal LOL. I've done a couple 2 hour drives so far and my back hasn't bothered me at all.

    I'm a hair under 6'1", 172 lbs.

I've seen several reviewers say the Prius c seats are waaaaay better than the regular Prius but you will have to test them both yourself. As far as cargo room, the regular Prius has much more area wise but you can't put really tall items in due to sloping rear. The c's cargo space is mediocre for a car it's size. I do think you should check them both out yourself because you will hear different things from different people. I find the c's seats to be some of the best of all the Toyota cars I've had.

Seats are not terrible. They are quite comfortable for me even on 100+ mile trips. I am 6'1" 240 with broad shoulders. I have plenty of room. I have plenty of headroom even with the sunroof. My wife complains about the lack of height adjustment and lumbar support on the passenger seat . She has a herniated disc and bought a couple of cushions to make them tolerable on long trips.

Cargo room is sufficient to load 2 large guitar cases, a small suitcase and other musical accoutrements. I fold the 40 side of the split seats down and can load my two kids on the 60 split.

We have an 11and 12, but according to the people at the Toyota experience center it can happen with any car. She said I could have a BMW fob that could do the same thing because they all use the same range of frequencies. So I asked if there was a way I could change my car's frequency so this problem would not occur, and she promptly let me know what page in the owners manual warned me that this could happen.

I guess as more manufacturers go to the smart key system the chances of this interference will increase. I'm not a happy camper.

I've heard that wrapping a fob in foil will make it undetectable by the car, if that works find a tin candy container that the unused fob will fit in!:D

The altoids can does not work, but the foil normally will work. It's just ludicrous. We are now required to carry foil with us so we can drive our cars? Give me a dumb key that all of a sudden seems smart.

I test drove TheCritic's car today and my fob interfered with his car. By touching his fob to the power button the system worked. We did toss my keys in the back seat so that may have helped but even then the car would not start until I touched his fob to the power button. Try that and see if it helps.

I have tried that. My wife has to throw her purse behind the second seat for it to work. Behind the driver or passenger seat only works occasionally. Putting up with a woman without easy access to her purse is a bigger problem than the fob. I've thought about divorce, but I kinda still love her. If this keeps up I may have to file just to keep my sanity. :)

It's funny though. My fob (2011) does not interfere with her car(2012 v) at all. It's only her fob affecting mine. Now we try to take her car whenever we go somewhere together.
