Currently, beleive it or not, I am driving a retired police crusier 2004 Crown Vic. I have the Scan Guage II on it, and I acutally hypermile the car to about 26 - 29 MPG, keeping at 60MPH on the highway.
One of the things I like about the car is that I can fit two car seats in the back seat, and still have decent space for an adult to sit in the "extra people seat" as my three year old calls it. I also regularly tow a mid size utility trailer that meets my home depot and extreme vacation packing (stupid amounts of luggage, bikes, tents, grills) needs. I also like the fact that people seem to drive very safe and slow around me in this car for some reason ;-)

However, I am thinking about demoting the Crown Vic to secondary car for family trips/towing and getting a small car as a daily driver. I have no ilusions of being able to fit an adult next to two car seats, but I am curious about experences with two seats in the back. My commuting needs include dropping off and picking up the kids from day care once or twice a week. If I have to continue to use the Vic on those days, buying the commuter doesn't likely make sense.
Last week I moved my 3year 10month daughter up to a booster, and 15 month son up to her previous toddler car seat. The 15 month old is currently rear facing, but that will only be for another few months until I turn him forward.

Just for curriosity, who has experence (and pictures?) with:

    - rear facing car seats
    - forward facing car seats
    - high back booster seats
    - combos there of (specificaly, if I have a third child, perhaps two bosters with a car seat, I know I am reaching)

    Thanks!

Our seven month old daughter is currently in a rear facing toddler seat that will become to small for her soon. So I am starting to look for a new seat for her.

Sorry, ignorant question: Why did you put your son first in a rear facing seat? Is there a size or age limit for "forward facing"?

He has just grown out of the infant carrier, which was rear facing with a base, so you could remove it. The limit of our carrier was 24 pounds.

The seat he just inherited from my daughter can go either forward or rear facing. In the Crown Vic is it no issue to the front seats to keep him rear facing, and as it is safer to do so, I am. The only reason to turn them forward really is if there legs are long and hitting the back of the rear seat. My daughter has longer legs so we turned her around on her first birth day. I'll probably avoid turning my shorter leged son forward until 18months or so. However, in a smaller car with a rear facing seat impacting the usability of the front passenger I wouldn't be apposed to him being forward facing now.

I just installed 2 - Graco Nautilus 3 in 1 Child seats in the rear of my prius C and it will work just fine. I have a 4yr old and a 6 yr old. I can see were they are going to drive me nuts kicking the back of my seat but they do that in the Toyota Sienna as well. And obviously there is no room far anything else in the back seat.

Thank you, are your front seats all the way back by any chance?
