I just installed the Navi speed override. the kit was great, and the instructions are easy to follow. It works like a charm!

For any of you who have installed the driving lights, this is an easier install (no firewall).
It took me about 2 hours start to finish.

He installed one of mine. We had a deal on something else that didn't go through which he compensated me for the trouble. In the end I sent him the bypass as a good gesture. He actually helped me out by being one of the early self install tester.

I'm a super newbie with installing things in cars. Is this something a person who really has zero experience in modding can do?

Also, i know the by pass isn't in stores yet, but how much would something like this be priced at? Thank!

It's in the PC shop as of today. PriusChat Shop : Toyota Prius Navigation Speed Lock Override [Prius Nav Override] - $80.00 There are 4 varieties.
    V1 is on-off switch.
V1V is the same as V1 but also adds the parking brake switching
V3 is on off timed. The on position of the switch also deactivates the timer before the timer runs out. The timer can be set by user from 0-90 seconds. It will ship with timer set at approximately 60 seconds.
V3V is the same as V3 but also adds the parking brake switching.
The V#V is for 2012 models with 7" screen that has DVD playback. (All AT Package)
The product page defaults at V3V so you have to choose V1, V1V, V3 manually. Everything is upgradeable to V3V but at a cost of $10 to $20 more than if you would have gotten the version you want in the first place.
I only have installation instruction for 2010 to 2012. I don't have instructions for Prius v and Prius c. Those with these vehicles would have to figure out how to disassemble the dash. The VSS wire is the violet wire and the parking brake wire is the red wire. The bypass kit is made to be as installation friendly as possible however, it is not plug and play. You do need to cut and splice the vehicle speed sense wire and the parking brake wire (V#V).
If you have any questions please ask before ordering.

It is not a hard thing to do. All it takes is a willingness to pry plastic panels off and about 4 screws to remove the navi unit. If you have ever cut a wire and added connectors and/or tapped into a wire you are good to go!

the directions CPROaudio has are easy to understand.

So if I get the V1 for my 2010, I can switch it, so the bypass is always off?
    Thanks

The switch is a 2 position on-off switch. When it's off, it's using the speed signal from the ECU just like before the mod. When you switch it on, the head unit is getting artificial speed from the bypass circuit. The speed is about 2-4km/h. Any speed less than 8km/h or 5mph will allow you use the radio with full function.
When you're using the map function, try not to use the bypass excessively. Bypassing the nav lock to enter address is ok but once the address is entered, don't use the bypass as it will throw the position off. It may cause you to miss a turn.

If you're interested in the V1V Please read before ordering.
For those who are interested in the V1V to enable DVD playback, it has come to my attention that the DVD display could switch to map display every 15-20 seconds for half a second or so then switches back to the DVD. This issue does not happen when parked with the parking brake applied and the switch is off.

I've heard of the issue of the DVD screen toggling between the map and video. Unfortunately I do not have access to a 2012-2013 Prius with DVD play back to diagnose the problem. The bypass was built according to the feedback from forum members. According to them, when the vehicle is moving less than 5MPH with parking brake on, the DVD screen will show. My bypass mimics 0-1mph with parking brake on to the radio. Since I don't have access to a DVD capable Prius, I don't know what could cause the toggling between the displays. According to one of my customer the nav lock bypass works with no problem. The only issue is the DVD playback.

With no solutions to the problem to offer you at this time, I can only suggest that
    A) purchase the Prestigious Society's bypass at Prestigious Society » Navigation and Video Enhancement Module » Prestigious Society
    B) purchase the beatsonic's bypass at Beat-Sonic NT6122 Navigation and DVD Control Bypass Module Combo
    C) order the V1V and accept it for what it is. Maybe in the future there will be fix for it. After all, the R1 and R2 value can be changed to change the pulse signal to the radio.

This does not affect V1 and V3.

I just finished installing this on my Prius v3 - detailed notes are found in this thread in the v forum.
BRIEF OVERVIEW OF DIFFERENCES for the v compared to the standard Prius:
    1. Don't mess with the lower center console, which is how the instructions for the standard Prius start. To access the head unit on the v, remove the upper glove box, power button bezel, and upper/center air vent manifold.
    2. There is no "radio bezel" surrounding the head unit, but there are three clips securing the head unit to the dash, in addition to the four 10mm bolts. Once head unit is removed, you can reach down behind the 12V/AUX bezel to remove that. No further dash dis-assembly is required unless you want to route the switch to the left of the steering wheel.
    3. There are some wire color changes:
    a. The power wire going into the cigarette lighter is pale green, rather than solid black. T-Tap the RED wire from the kit power harness into this pale green wire.
    b. The VSS wire is blue, not purple, but it is still connected to pin 17 in the 28-pin harness on the head unit.
    4. To test the bypass before driving, enter the service menu as described, but there is no "Function Check/Settings" command option. I just clicked "Next page"; you may need to click the "MENU" button again first.
    5. The Speed Lock Override works great! :) Thanks very much!

Does the 2012 nav system still have the lockout? I'm having a hard time trying to find anything in the documentation regarding having a lockout. My 2012 Prius 3 is on order, so I can't try.

Yes. Toyota plays it overly safe so at speed many functions are not allowed. You of course can change presets on the radio or dial speed dials you have entered but entering destinations into the navi or dialing a phone number off the screen are not allowed.

I got the V1V for my V+ATP. I connected the purple wires and the power from the cigarette lighter and it works fine.
How do I connect the pink wires for the DVD?

    Thanks,
    Tanasit

EDIT: Just received the answer from cproaudion and it is the yellow wire on pin# 6 of the 16 pin plug.

I'm interested in this, but I'd like a more plug and play option so I can just install it without any modifications to the original connectors, and also so I can do the work completely at my workbench and take my time. Do you have any good links or know where I can get a complete pass through type harness so I can purchase the mod, apply it to the harness them install it in the radio?

I'm pretty sure this is what you're looking for: Prestigious Society » Navigation and Video Enhancement Module » Prestigious Society

I can't source the OEM male and female plugs. If you can find them please let me know. For plug and play, I recommend the Prestigious Society override.

I'm not sure exactly which harness's are needed. I did see a bunch on ebay, but they mostly looked like the speaker type harness.
