I've been following kkim's threads on the wheel selections he has made and I was very interested on what was his first choice of wheels (his wife's second choice, who won because its her car).

The only thing I'm stuck on at the moment is deciding weather I should get them in silver or bronze. If anyone can photoshop each set onto a Black C then we might get a better idea of what it would look like :)

    Feedback?...

Im trying to wait for some RPF1, if only they were not 7 inch wide. but for 7inchs wide they weight 9.5lbs, im sure a 15x5 could weight 8lbs or less and for 200$ each not bad for the weight.

Is there an ETA for the RPF1's?

even if enough spoke up, I wouldn't expect any wheels for sale for about a year, if then.

with regards to your wheel choice, I would be concerned about the 38mm offset. I like those wheels too, but have concerns if the extra 2mm of them sticking further out will cause problems/fender interference.

if you do end up with them, please post and let us know if they rub or not.

as far as wheel color, it's all personal preference, which is what makes modding cars so cool... to end up with something unique. what color is your car?

i was thinking SSR Comp series, they look good, only thinkg is they 380 new each, but iv seen people selling slightly used for arround 250 each, still alot. I dont want rims for the MPG, i like the looks so if you can get both then thats even better.

KKIM when you replaced wheels, you kept the stock tires correct.

My wife has a 2010 Gen3 its the Champaign color, im trying to order my C over the internet via EMAILS and such. so i can have it readdy when i return to states in 2 weeks, or might just have wife go sign all paperwork and pick it up in a week. Don't know yet, looking at getting a C4 for 22,500 before TTL.

I was thinking the same thing, but seeng as how there are not a lot of people that have fittet wheels on to the C, I am really keeping my fingers crossed that everything works out. Worst case scenario I only loose out on about 450 bucks before I sell the wheels for say... $300 to a miata owner ;)

The car is black and looking online at a few black/bronze combo's I think I will go the conservative way and stick with the silver wheels.
I will keep you guys posted.

22,500 is a great price for a 4, if you can get out the door w/ only ttl added to that figure. GL ;)

yes, I am using the stock tires on a 6.5 inch rim. I know, it's a stretch (no pun intended), but it seems to be working for now and when I drove the car, you can feel the increased stance in how much more stable the car feels when cornering... this with just changing the wheel width. Added plus is that going back to the stock tire on lighter rims has brought back the original MPG (if not slightly more) figures that we could get with the stock wheel/tire combo and more than the heavier 6.5x15- 195/60 wheel tire combo. When those wheels were on the car, we saw about a 10% MPG hit, so I would caution about going to a too much heavier than stock setup... in both wheels and tires.

I've used SSR comps and they are a great rim... light and strong. A bit too pricey for me to reduce a few pounds, though. Go for it if you can afford them. The Konig rims I use are relatively light, great looking knockoffs and are of a high enough quality that I have no problems running on my cars multiple times in the past.

My goal is to lighten the unsprung mass to make the car more "flickable" and at the same time not ruining the original MPG and actually looking to hopefully increase it when done. I always believe a modification should serve some mechanical advantage/improvement to the part you are replacing to attain the goal of what you are trying to achieve once you're done.

next, after the wheel tire combo is figured out, will be a rear sway bar that hopefully Progressive will have out when I need it. There is already a Cusco bar, but it's a bit pricey for me. Then will be a set of shocks if/when a HP replacement can be found. No lowering for me... been there, done that, and I'm good with the stock height, unless a spring rate change is warranted.

2mm is less than a tenth of an inch, so that should not be a problem. I prefer the silver color, all the people that go with darker color rims just makes the car look dirty in my own opinion.

Looks like the silver will have to be it due to the fact that everywhere I've called for the bronze they tell me that it is not available and discontinued by konig...

My choice would be silver, too, if I ever end up getting another c.

what tires are you planning to go with? stock or 185s? Pics when you get them on the car, please, and a write up on any clearance issues you may have had.

Better grab them while you can... I've been down the hard to get wheels route before and despite promises and assurances, many times the goods never materialize. These are the reasons I went with the wheels I did... availability, cost, weight, aesthetics.

black is a non color so it will match with anything.

That said, I'm a huge fan of the bronze. It'll look great. Here's a pic of an older black Prius with bronze rims.

So I found these wheels because unfortunately as you mentioned KKIM, both styles of the ones I was looking at and both colors are either discontinued or on back order for 4-6 weeks...
Also, KKIM said as long as you dont put heavier wheels than what we already have on there then it should not hurt MPG's which makes perfect sence... So I will more than likely be installing these by tomorrow

Im getting them for 456 including my tires being unmounted from the steelies and mounted and balanced on these... sound fair?

well, the lighter than stock (to a point), the better, but as long as the wheels are not heavier, I considered them. Sounds like a fair deal. If you like it, that all that really matters.

In the end, though, you will be the one that will have to live with the choices you make. I made my posts about wheels to explain what is available and what worked for me. What people do with that information is entirely up to them. From my experience with wheels of the same dimensional specs as you are buying, you should have no problems with your selection.

Please post pics once you have them installed. :)

I totally agree that as long as the owner is happy with any modification done to their vehicles then that is all that really matters, but I want to thank you for posting such useful information to help this new addition to the Prius community with questions that I'm sure many had. :clap2:
Pictures will be up as soon as I get them on.
Those look really nice. Good job :)

IMHO, as great as those wheels look, the black screams for shiny chrome!! I'd say use the same wheel, but in chrome!
