When i was driving my 2005 Toyota Prius the Red Triangle, the ((!)) light, the vsc light, and the check engine light came on. I let it sit for sixteen hours without driving it and everything went back to normal. Three days later i was driving and the same lights came on. I let it sit again for sixteen hours without driving and it was still there.
When i was driving i recognized there was a terrible lag, and if i was driving for a while it took me about one minute to get up to 45 miles an hour. It felt like i was driving in first gear or something
I also noticed if i had the Heating and air conditioning off that hot air would pump from my back right, which is the seat behind the passenger, that vent was blasting out hot air.
I took it in to toyota and they said the water pump was bad
So they replaced it, after replacing it more codes came up
and one of them told them to replace the Hybrid Battery Pack
    which is 3,419 dollars.
I Drove it out of there today thinking that some of the problem was fixed with the lagging of the acceleration and the heating coming from the vents but it was not
I was reading online and everything pointed to the inverter pump where the engine is not being properly cooled, which would explain the excessive hear and the lagging
They claim it still is the battery, but i was watching the battery on the dashboard navigation system and it seems to be driving and recharging fine
I'm wondering what i should do for the next step
Starting to think toyota is trying to rob me into purchasing the battery pack, and i will if it is recommended.

What were the codes? That's quite important.

Are you still on the original 12 volt? If so, it's bad by now.

If not, you can test it by going thru the procedure at http://priuschat.com/forums/newbie-forum/73400-weird-stuff-happening-mpgs-dropping-test-battery.html after the car has sat overnight or MANY hours. Tell us what the numbers are after each step.

There are some here that have claimed that a bad 12 volt can even cause codes to be incorrectly thrown indicating a bad HV battery. The posts at http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...-high-voltage-battery-3500-a.html#post1525685 and most beyond it might help along with Failed traction (HV) battery, what to do? - Prius Wiki.

Well it's weird because when i tested it with a electric tester the battery in the back was reading twelve volts! but i am going to test this procedure listed in the weird stuff happening?...
and then i will respond back
i believe the original codes were as followed
    p0171, p3190 & p3193
then they re calibrated the system and replaced the water pump
Then after the ECU was re calibrated other codes appeared:
    p300, P0A80.

Okay i followed the instructions in the weird stuff happening mpg dropping it doesnt seem that the 12 v is a problem, it was registering at 12 the whole time, and when i drove it it was at 13.8, even getting up to speeds of 55mph.

Unless there's a problem w/the charging system or DC-converter, I'd expect it to always show some value >13 volts when the car is in READY mode (READY light on).

As for electric tester in the back, take the readings after the car has sat MANY hours or overnight. Taking them right after the car has been driven will yield higher values after the car's been left.

Again, if you're on the original 12 volt, it's toast. Replace it. I replaced mine on my 06 about a year ago as it was getting marginal back then.

BTW, the HV battery should be covered under warranty for 8 years/100K miles. Are you past either of those?

I am past the 100,000 miles i am somewhat near 190,000 mile range
i am not sure if it's the original battery, but in maintenance mode the car seems to be fine in voltage wise.

Tell us once voltages after each step after the car's been left turned off for many hours or tomorrow morning.

My father and i had an ingenious idea, we took the negative off the 12 volt battery located in the trunk of the car, it immediately sparked furiously and was very dangerous, do not recommend, however it reset my car's computer,
the intake vent was quite, and all the error codes were off. car was driving normal as well
going to hope it lasts till tomorrow, i drive to work and school tomorrow so hopefully it will be all good and dandy. we think something might have been blocking the vent in the back seat that cools down the hybrid battery, that's what i'm leaning to, but i'm not sure what it possibly could have been.

The P0A80 code he posted is troubling. But again, his 12 volt might be toast and might be causing erroneous codes to be thrown.

HV battery failure at 190K miles isn't unheard of.

Hopefully a repair expert can chime in.
