WOW, drove 315 miles Tuesday, Richmond to Atlantic City - first things first - mileage 315 miles, 57 mph avg, most at 65-70 on cruise control, 62 degrees, 55.7 mpg! Next - Sound system good, yes it has to be faded much to the rear as reported by many, but my iPod selection sounded great (Queen, Billy Joel, Gordon Lightfoot, Michael W Smith, Gaga) Deluxe Navigation worked like a charm, recalculated silently and quickly when I chose a different route. Comfort, B+, stayed good for about four hours. Should have stopped and walked more Overall a great endorsement of purchase decision. {I moved this from the wrong section I posted this in}
Re: 2912 Four, first road trip - impressions It's from the future! Cool! Of course, i would have thought the mpg's would be better than that by 2912.
Re: 2912 Four, first road trip - impressions Yes, but the 2912 runs on those old plastic shopping bags, making use of the small amounts of hydrocarbons in them. Thus VERY efficient.
Re: 2912 Four, first road trip - impressions Steve, Nice to hear that you had a good roadtrip with it. I, too, have faded the speakers to the rear (which I have to remember to center when the kids are in the back, lest they get blasted out by my music), I also find that I have to move the icon one tick to the passenger side to balance the sound as well. Nice mileage for the average speeds traveled.
Re: 2912 Four, first road trip - impressions Hey Steve, Your model year has gained 900 years on mine. Happy first trip, your impressions are much the same as mine. I too find that you have to fade the radio to the back a bit , luckily I don't have too many rear seat passengers. Great mileage, about the best I am getting on a trip is around 55 mpg cruising at 65mph with the AC on . I am loving my Prius more every day. By the way on the 2912 model , have they got the flux capacitor thingy fixed yet , when you hit warp drive???:rockon:
Re: 2912 Four, first road trip - impressions I want to know if they FINALLY tied the solar roof into the battery on the 2912 model! Heck, the whole car is probably made out of color-shifting solar panels. Press a button and "poof", you're a member of the Blizzard Brigade!
Re: 2912 Four, first road trip - impressions And gee I proofed the body of the message real well! Btw, Fuelly below includes this trip which was 50.6 by calculation, but the NJ gas attendant put more after click, so it be better after next fill. Trip home was 53.6 on the MID. I will chart fills and compare readings.
Re: 2912 Four, first road trip - impressions What did you guys find with the audio system that you need to fade it to the rear for? Is it way over powering up front or? Is this the 6.1 or 7.1 system you guys speak of? tnx, Mike
Re: 2912 Four, first road trip - impressions Congrats on your purchase. These guys are ruthless on your model year. I looked at the 2912's but I was hoping to get a 2911 leftover.
Re: 2912 Four, first road trip - impressions Mine has the JBL 8 speaker system. You can not even hear the rear speakers without fading way to the rear. Of course that does not work with rear seat passengers.
Re: 2912 Four, first road trip - impressions Hmm, sounds like I have some troubleshooting to do next week to see what the issue is. Wonder if there is a fader pot in the amp? Mike
Re: 2912 Four, first road trip - impressions Mike, if you find anything I am not doing or could do that would be great. I read about the problem here even before getting the car. Maybe I have some studying to do myself.
Re: 2912 Four, first road trip - impressions The amp for all the speakers is under the passenger seat? I think I read that somewhere. A bit of testing and I or someone should be able to say this or that is the issue. I am hoping there is a fade adjustment pot in the amp. Don't know why the car ships with it set so hot up front and light in the rears. I have only listened to a 6.1 system last winter. Monday I can listen to my car as I take delivery then I have plenty of time and equipment to figure it out. Mike
Re: 2912 Four, first road trip - impressions Yes I will, but do remind me. Sometimes I forget to do stuff which drives my wife batty I should learn how to do the reminder thing on the computer. That would be useful. Then my wife would have nothing to complain about Mike
