After 1.5 years and 13K miles I've had it with the 2010 Prius. What a pile of junk, I'll never buy another Toyota again, ever. I've bought a new 2012 Ford Mustang, 305HP V6 with 31.5MPG customized with Ford Racing components from the factory.

Here's why I sold the Prius:

I never got a nice car comment even with aftermarket custom rims
    It looks ugly
It never delivered the MPG, in Eco mode only 39 to 41 mpg
It was simply not comfortable to sit in, it felt cramped, poor seats, bad ergonomics, nothing felt natural
The steering wheel was not round
The brakes didn't work over bumps, a very real safety hazard
The engine would at start up sound like it dropped a piston or the crank broke
No matter how fast I went every other car wanted to pass me
Poor interior fit and finish, if you looked at the material, it would fade and look worn, I put seat covers on the second week I bough the car
Poor exterior paint, if you looked at it you would scratch it
The dash would never stop rattling
The A/C and Heat never really worked as a real car should

At first I was taken in by all the hype of high mpg, it's hip, and cool, but it's not really, and lived with the annoyances but enough is enough.

If anyone feels different, so be it, you are not me...

I've now got a car that does the following:

Hey you got a nice car!, in the first two days, complete strangers shouted across a parking lot, NICE CAR!
The gas mileage delivers what is promised
The seats fit, hey I'm a normal size person, 5'10" 155 lbs and these are some of the best seats to sit in, they wrap around you in comfort
The radio sounds a lot better
It's American built, my other car is a Ford Truck and is the best truck I've every had, it runs and runs and runs. Oh, I also own a Honda Civic SI sedan, so I'm not against Japanese cars, just Toyota
It's fast, but I don't drive it fast, and nobody wants to pass me, but pull along side and give me the thumps up
Mustang people are smarter and cooler than Prius people, that is a fact
    The A/C really works
There are a lot more aftermarket kit to customize than the Prius

I could keep going, but I expect I've set off a few wingnuts in the forum already,

    Peace-I'm out of here[IMG]

Hey, sounds like you are enjoying your new ride and you seem to feel that what you drive reflects on you. That's ok. I'm glad you bought American, if I felt they offered value for money I would also. Enjoy, I remember how it was to own a really bad car (Ford Taurus) I couldn't wait to get rid of the pile of junk, it soured me on Ford forever, hope you have better luck with your Ford.

I see your from Texas. If you really want to be cool you can paint the new V6 Mustang orange and put a rebel flag on the roof and steer horns on the hood.

    Just a thought, isn't the V6 for females? I thought men drive V8 GT's?

LOL about 31.5 mpg. That's the 31 mpg is the EPA highway rating. It's rated at 23 mpg combined or 19 city.

As for you and 39 to 41 mpg, well, I don't think you ever asked for mileage help. All I can guess is that you had one one ore more of these going on: driving it wrong for mileage, underinflated tires, alignment problem., trips that were too short or were going WAY too fast on the highway.

Some people get better mileage driving in power mode and find eco mode doesn't help.

When Consumer Reports tested a V6 Mustang (they only tested with a manual), they got 16 city/35 highway, 24 mpg overall and 29 mpg on a 150 mile trip. For the Prius (The most fuel-efficient cars), they got 32 city/55 highway, 44 overall and 53 mpg on a 150 mile trip.

Those custom rims were probably what was dragging your MPG down. Great you got rid of it. It seems Prius isn't for you, based on what you are looking for.

Enjoy the new car. It sounds like you needed a change. If the mustang is something you enjoy go with it.

It is very hard for a single car to meet diversified needs. We have 3 cars a BMW Z4 for play, a Jeep V8 for work and big snows and a Prius to use everyday and to cover distances at low cost.

Perhaps at some point you can use the Mustang for play and an EV for short distance travel!!!

Nope, just keep guessing, the tires were stock 15" and were inflated to 40lbs, the car was driven just like all the hyper airheads said to drive it, face it, the Prius just didn't deliver. I did get a few comments that the rims looked better than the stock plastic cheap parts that were on the car originally. Too bad you still have a Prius, I don't...:p

Yes, I can afford to pay for gas, it's never been an issue for me:) I'd rather pay more for gas and have a car works for me, why is that so hard for you to accept?

I've dated women who are 5'10 and 155 lbs, I used a non-gender comment because i was not sure if you are male or female and I'm too lazy to look at your profile. Still not convinced which one you are. Either way enjoy your new ride with your new mate.
