Well said - a masters thesis is a practical report (mine had lots of data that was very useful to my employer). Doctoral dissertations are supposed to add new knowledge to the world.

My MBA has nothing to do with my current profession (professional tree-hugger), but as many on this thread have encountered - it was the minimum education level necessary for work in the field.

$10,000 worth of dealer packs just means to me they don't want to sell the car.

Well if you think that . . . then you gotta get out more often. ;)

Funny story - my wife tells her grama Gold, that she's no longer dating (former boyfriend) Bill "Rosen" ... and that she's dating someone else. The 1st question grama Gold asks (about me), "Is he Jewish?"
No ... but he's an attorney (JD). Grama Gold replies, "that's ok then". The joke is on my wife though ... I haven't used my 'credentials' for almost a decade. I proudly tell people that I'm living proof that any moron can get a doctor's degree from a great school.
    :p

Well, I have a BSEE and spent 28 years as a Sales Engineer. But since I lie every time I open my mouth I might not have a degree at all, or I might have an advanced degree. You decide.

Seriously, I will say obtaining a BSEE was the most mental work I have ever done in my life. I can't imagine ever putting forth the effort required to get an advanced degree in engineering. Hence I have the utmost respect for anyone that can pull that off.

Of course, I used to say that stuff to butter up my customers just before they bough really expensive Microwave Network Analyzers. Or maybe I didn't.

I work at IBM Research where everyone (including myself) has a PhD in Math, Physics or Computer Science. If you took a look at our parking lot, it becomes pretty obvious that Priuses dominate. I would estimate that perhaps a quarter of the cars are Priuses. When I drove in to work for the first time in my v, there was a lot of interest from my coworkers.
