Just bought a model 2, is there any way to add the model 3 radio? Basically the touch screen/nav. Probably have to wait as I can't find the aftermarket radio anywhere? Or is there a similar radio to add?
Didn't care about the push button start or the keyless entry thing on the 3 so the additional price wasn't justified, but would kinda like the nav and larger screen.

If the swap would be anything like the swap from a base radio to a nav unit in a Tundra, then I'm guessing there's going to need to be a fair bit of work involved. Thankfully the steering wheel controls are already in place, but you'll probably need to add a GPS receiver/antenna along with modifying or buying a wiring harness adapter. You might also be needing a faceplate adapter (if going aftermarket), but at least you shouldn't have to worry about making allowances for a separate amp (only built-in amps in the c, I think?).

Probably be easier and cheaper to add an aftermarket radio with screen and nav etc. once somebody gets around to making a mounting and dash kit for these cars. Just maybe another way to go...

I have my new C2 on order. I work for a custom mobile audio shop in Albany, NY. I have already spoken with both Metra and Scosche and both have Prius C dash kits and wiring harnesses in the works. The only thing that the could not confirm is integrating the steering wheel controls yet. You should 100% wait for the aftermarket solution. I'm planning on putting a kenwood DNX9990HD in as soon as its available.

PAC-SWI makes an adapter that works with the steering wheel

That makes me feel better than. I called PAC tech and they said that they don't have a solution yet. And it's not listed on their website. Normally PAC-SWI's need exact resistance values run in line for vehicle specific applications... Which SWI Did you use and did you need to run a resistor in line on any connections?

i installed it as with any other Toyota application.. i can't remember the resistor value.. but it's listed in their instructions as far as what it's needed for Toyota.

as far as the wires that you need to tap into.. there aren't any instructions quite yet as the wires are slightly different in the C... i think it was a light blue and pink wire though in the harness.

SquallLHeart I'm glad you were able to get the SWI-JACK to work so easily. I am trying to install mine now and I don't really know which wires to use.

I checked the install guide for the 2011 Prius but it refers to pin numbers on the harness rather than wire colors, and the Prius C has a different harness altogether so I'm a bit lost as to how I would figure out which wires are correct, which to connect to resistors, etc.

lemme find out which one is which.. it's blue and pink for sure... but let me give you the pin numbers and which wire is which. it'll help a bit better.

Does anyone tries to change the Standard HU to then Navi HU?

The Navi HU itself cost around $3,000.00 alone. Not including the voice command steering wheel and any other wiring harness.

I got the Navi HU from one of the member here, you can find the same on ebay for $800 now.

Everything is plug and play except you need to buy a new GPS antenna on ebay, if you want XM you need to find a XM antenna but I don't use it so didn't look into it.

Entune works, Bluetooth, Mic, USB, ipod, GPS works, HD radio works with the C1/C2 antenna, now I just need to run add 3 wire to get the CAR information energy and trip information display since it is not prewire. otherwise everything is plug and play.

As far as voice command in steering wheel, the Standard HU already has wire support it and no wire is missing from the harness since it share the same Wire for Phone On and Off in the steering wheel, therefore you just need to buy the switch and hook up in the steering wheel and it will work as I review the diagram.

I just place it inside the dash in between steering wheel and the radio (Behind the START button) location on a metal rail.

Tonight I am going to run a temporary wire to test out the CAN line from the OBD port to the back of the radio to see if it works.

    FINALLY SUCCEED!!!

It took me 1 hours to find the damn RH CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR, it is real small and hiding with electrical wire. I look and look and can't find it until now.

Now I am able to feed the ENERGY MONITOR and TRIP information to the OEM Nav Headunit on the display. I just use some alarm wire to get the signal and jump a few wire to get this working.

I short something before and got CHECK HYBIRD ERROR almost freak me out but everything is fine now.

Attached are where the connector is and the head unit showing the information. Now I just need to find the correct WIRE Pin to put inside the harness to connect the signal.

Anyone have questions please let me know.
