I'be had my Prius for about 3 weeks, and noticed those white marks on the dash. It's also showing quite a bit of dust. Do you guys recommend any type of special cleaner for the dash? I guess I'm more concerned about this dash, as mosh dashes has a shiny and smooth surface as this does not.

After washing my car and wiping it down with a soft towel, I use that same towel on the dashboard and steering wheel. It seems to remove those "white marks" without any trouble.

Clean the dash with plain water and a soft cloth, let it dry and then apply 303 Protectant. Dust problem will be reduced and the nice texture of the dash will be more apparent. 303 is great stuff - not shiny but enhances the finish.

I jsut use a micro-fiber cloth and so far it has removed the white marks. Read that on here somewhere.

California dash duster is all I've used on my cars for years.

I just picked up a gallon of P&S Xpress Interior Cleaner today. A lot of production detail facilities and dealerships use this product.

From my use of it so far, it deep cleans interior surfaces very well and leaves behind a very nice matte finish. Cost is only $14/gal, which is extremely cost-effective.

    Call P&S and ask:

    P & S Sales, Company Information

I just drove by one of the local sales offices on my way home one day. I know it some people sell it on eBay as well, but the shipping is cost-prohibitive for a one-gallon size.

My understanding is that P&S makes fairly good soaps, cleaners and dressings, but are weak on the wax and polish side.

All I use is the California dash duster and I'm not sure what you're talking about when it comes to "white marks." Could they be initiated from using a cleaner (either at home or during dealer prep) and it becomes a vicious cycle in which you have to reapply the cleaner to get rid of those marks?

Absolutely not! I noticed the same thing when my car was brand new in Feb. My wife even commented on it. Just running your hand over the dash would leave white streaks. Kind of annoying for a brand new car. But once I used a cleaner (Meguiar's Natural Shine Vinyl and Rubber Protectant) it went away.

One thing to note is that the dash does have a grain to it, so you should wipe front to back, not side to side.

Meguiar's makes another good cleaner/protectant for interiors--Meguiar's "Quik Interior Detailer." This is a very mild product which doesn't leave any residue after application.

And spray the cleaner on the cloth not the dash, grabs the dust and dirt, leaves no residue.

The fleet cars get wiped down with a damp cloth - If they are dirty they get Mister Clean and hot water. We use any number of protectant sprays very sparingly -- I find they attract dirt and many are too shinny.

The whole interior of the Prius is plastic -- Your not going to hurt it with simple cleaners. Toyota even makes the leather look like plastic.

The white marks he is referring to have been reported here several times. Some supposition is that the embossing on the dash, including the glove boxes acts like sandpaper against skin. I am not sue of cause but microfiber wipe (dry) removes it easily.

I used LEXOL vinyl cleaner/conditioner. It cleans and leaves the natual shine not the BLING BLING shine.

I use a dry, soft towel, kept in the rear seat area for just that purpose. A downward motion on the glove box doors seems to work best.

Like the others, I use a CA car duster for dust, a microfiber towel for white marks and Meguiar's Interior Quick Detailer if things actually get dirty. I refuse to use chemicals to "treat" the dash.

If Meguire's isn't a chemical, or conglomeration of chemicals, what is it? :)

So those white marks are people's skin? I have absolutely no reason to touch the dash so no white marks.

Also, if you're getting white marks on other areas, I have Misty Gray so maybe that's a factor?
