Don't buy Weathertech mats for your 2012

Did anyone buy the Husky WeatherBeater Floor Liners for the 2012 Prius?

The 2012 Prius mat retention clips are different than 2011 and I want to know if we need to remove these clips before putting in the Husky WeatherBeater Floor Liners? The thought of the floor liners sitting on top of the retention clips doesn't go well with me.

You don't need to remove the clips, but the Huskey mat comes with instructions which suggest it will sit better if you do. I haven't removed mine (mostly because I can't figure out how), and notice no loss of stability. The mats have so many teeth on them that they stick to the carpeting underneath pretty firmly.

I have a 2011 Prius, and the first thing I did was to buy a set of Husky WeatherBeater Floor Liners. Absolutely no regrets.

I removed the mat retention clips that were attached to the flooring as they created a gap under the Husky Floor Liners. The Husky Floor Liners fit so well that they do not move around.

Can you tell us how you removed the clips? On the 2012 models, the clips are a dial that rotates from lock to unlock (I suppose). Was this how they were on your 2011? If so, what's the secret of getting them off. The Husky instructions (which don't really highlight they are for a 2012 Prius) say:
"To remove the hooks, apply firm and even pressure while lifting the end of the hook arm straight up."
There is no hook arm on the 2012.

I purchased the Husky WeatherBeaters for my 2012 Five from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007H1M76U/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00
They were $101 when I ordered them- they look like they've gone up a bit since March 14th.

Anyway- there is a raised "bubble" in the mat that simply fits over and around the car's floor mat clip on the driver side mat. There's nothing to remove/turn/etc.. just sit the mat in the correct position and you're good to go. I've had my mats in for three weeks now and they haven't budged from their original position.

By the way they look- with their high sides, you could probably pour at least a half gallon of liquid onto the driver side mat with out any overflowing onto the carpet.

Sounds like Toyota changed the clip on the 2012 model. As I recall on my 2011, I used a pair of needle nose pliers to squeeze the base of the clip then gently pull it out.

The only difference is the driver side mat. The 2010-2011 have different clips then the 2012. The '10-'11 have hooks and the '12 has a key type mat holder. It took them forever but WeatherTech does have the correct Digital Fit mats for a 2012 now. I purchased them last week and they fit great!

    A interesting fact:
The '12 Prius V has the exact same front mats as a regular '12 Prius. Only the rear mat is different.

    Front...meaning...front 2 or front 4?

And you mean exact exact or just darn close?

I've had my Husky mats for the past 2 months or so and I think I like weathertech's better (have them on two of my cars), but I guess it's all preference. I have mine up for sale if anyone is interested. I've noticed my husky's move around more than I thought they would. I have to re-adjust them every other trip to be flush up against the bottom of the mat and carpet in my Prius. Anyway, check out my for sale ad. Looking to sell so I can get my weathertechs. Asking 90 shipped. Thanks.
