    Poll question:

What % gas mileage improvement over your last ride is the Pip?

My old daily driver was a Gen II with 111k, and i got about 50 mpg lifetime average.

so with an average of 97 mpg in the Pip so far, that's a 94% improvement.

I think most of the responses will be in that 90+ category, especially for those of us coming from non-hybrids. I averaged 27 mpg combined in my Accord (I remember thinking that was great!) and now am in the high 60s with the PiP.

But isn't it kinda 'unfair' to compare the MPG that you get in a PiP when using short trip 'plug-in mileage' to any other vehicle. If I compare our 2010 Prius to the PiP on a 250 mile trip up to the Bay Area, the PiP would be better alright but it would only be better by a few percent; maybe it would register on the lowest end of your scale.

I agree. I used to get about 30 mpg in my old car (a non-Prius) and now, with a Plug-in Prius, I get close to 150 mpg. (And that's not really close to 90%)

With the plugging, there is far less pumping...

Well, that's why i'm using my lifetime average mpg figure.

maybe should re-visit this after Pip has been in use for a solid 12 months and see what folks get on average.

It looks like I'll have to drive 250 miles on gas so that I meet the 6 month 5 gallon refill so the gas doesn't get stale in the tank. That'll affect my %

On average, per tank, I was getting 42 to 45 MPG in my Gen II 2005 that had 162K miles on it. I am now averaging between 56 and 60 MPG. That's at least a 30% improvement. I'm pretty happy with that...
