    Greetings,

I'm loving the trip summary feature on my new Prius C3, but I'm wondering if anyone knows how it calculates the cost of gas. I have no idea what price per gallon it is using to tell me how much my trip cost. I can't find anywhere where I can input the average gas price for where I live. Or is the price of gas somehow automatically configured?

You will want to go to the eco savings menu.

From there you can set a price of the gas from the last fill up.
If the next fill up is different, you can change it.

Also, when filling up, (over 5 gal or more) it will also pop up on the screen
and prompt to change the price. This happens in after starting the car
after the fill. You have about a 5 second time window.

Thanks dig4dirt. It was right there in front of my face. Wow. I kept trying to go through the other screen, and didn't know what you meant by the eco savings menu. Turns out you have to hit the display button on the steering wheel to get to the Eco Savings Menu. Many thanks!

I thought our first tank of gas was configured a little low. It was configured at $2.60something/gallon, and we just paid $4.32...

    Thanks again!

I don't know if I'm going crazy or what but when I filled up my C last week it actually prompted me for the new price. I had set the price on my first fill up and have been using the ECO Savings HUD while driving. Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not...

well duh... each time you fill up.. the price of gas may have changed... so you change it.

It's nice that the car does it automatically after a fill up.. so you don't have to go thru all the menu options again..

if the price hasn't changed... well, just don't change it.

Found the answer in another forum.

Here is how to input gasoline price:

Press the "DISP" button until the "SETTINGS" screen appears.
Press and Hold the "DISP" button until the screen changes.
    Select "GASOLINE PRICE"
Press and hold the "DISP" button to enter setting mode.
Select gasoline price by pressing the "DISP" or "TRIP" button.

To exit, Select "EXIT" then press and hold the "DISP" button.

Thanks for posting this. Just reset mine this afternoon - it was set for $2.80  (I wish!!). I reset it to $4.40 - it's actually $4.399 but close enough for me.

If you toggle through the displays until you get to Settings and Screen off , hold the display button down and another screen comes up. toggle through that display using the Display button until you get to ECO settings, press and hold display to open the next page, where you see 'gasoline price'. toggle through with display button to highlight gasoline price, press and hold Display button, on the next page you can change the gas price using the Display (to increase) or Trip (to decrease). It took me a while to find it but this is in the manual on page 198.

In the "Eco Savings" section of "settings" you can input the cost of your gas when you fill up.

Yeah, I can't figure why the cars come off the dealer lot with the price per gallon set well into the last century. Is there anywhere in the USA where gas is under 3 bucks a gallon? It sure does impress the first-time user on that first tank, though!
