My 2005 Prius with 116K on it has been having some uneven acceleration lately and today the Triangle warning light, the check engine light and the brake light came on at the same time. I had about 1/2 mile to go, so I proceeded slowly and called the dealership which had preformed a routine oil chg two days ago. They said that if the lights weren't flashing then I could drive it. They recommended that I take it to AUTO ZONE and put it on the analyzer. This elicited these codes: P3019: no definition and P0A80: replace Hybrid Battery.

I have an appointment in 2 days and I'm wondering about a salvage HV battery since the car is 7 yrs old and over 116 K miles. I've read several threads and it sounds like it is doable but the correct diagnostic neeed to be performed first. These slavage Co. were mentioned: LKQ; Re-Involt; and Seilerts. I also found a company : Battery4 Prius.com ( based in CA) that travels around the country and replaces, HV batteries, Transaxle systems and Inverters.

Does anyone have experience with any of these or can you recommend someone in Central Ohio who has worked on Toyota HV systems ?

Thanks so much for your help !! Rebecca

...Rebecca sorry to hear, better battery experts here than me, but you can check out the Re-Involt web site as I believe they list local expert dealers for installation.

You might try Steve @ Autobeyours.com. He is about 200 miles from Central Ohio.

I wouldn't place a whole lot of faith in the P0A80 code just yet.

Have you noticed the battery gauge fluctuating a lot lately? e.g. going from 2 bars to all green in 5 min or so? or vice versa? If so, then the traction battery might really be bad. But if not, then try checking a few less expensive possibilities: mainly, the 12V battery instead.

See this thread: Weird stuff happening? MPGs dropping? Test The Battery

How old is the 12V battery? For an '05, if it's the original battery it's way past its useful life. And don't trust the dealer to check it for you either, they're notorious for doing it wrong. Follow the instructions in the thread above.

Good luck, and hope it's not really the traction battery.
