Re: do you regret owning the PriusV?

I use Yelp often to find new restaurants. What you're doing is looking at a restaurant with 4 1/2 stars and lingering on the few 1, 2, and 3 star reviews. It could be that those few bad reviews are right, it could be that those reviewers aren't ever happy, or that they ate there on an off day.

I've spent a lot of time on this forum and seen maybe two unhappy v owners, and another couple hundred with small complaints here and there.

I have no big lingering issues with any of the features you mentioned or otherwise. And no regrets.

Those are two major complaints in my book.

The Prius, even the top end will seem like mid-range BMW. You are buying the Prius for MILEAGE first and foremost. You won't get BMW luxury and comfort.

Unless you are mileage fanatic, you better stick with the BMW and wait for their hybrid. Be sure you get power seats or you are going to hate your Prius compared to BMW.

Zero regrets so far. It's a really cool car and we're closing in on a 50 mpg average.

Put 5k on the car already. No regrets.
This is what I wanted -space at the back and mpg. Sitting in the traffic in comfortable seats and watch you mpg go up - priceless.

Totally satisfied with navigation and sound systems. Missing cassette tape though... Use entune service a couple of times - worked for me just fine.

Wow! Haven't heard that complaint in a while! ;) I think you'd have a hard time finding ANY new car that has a cassette player. Come to think of it, I think you'd have a hard time finding a car less than 10 years old that has a cassette player.
But of course the v (versatile, right?!) offers a solution - you could use a Walkman (that's like an ipod, but a lot thicker), and connect it via the AUX jack.

PriusvGirl – Hum-m-m…Bimmer driver seeking “Better MPGs And Space.” --- You are an excellent candidate for transformation into a Prius Borg Queen.

Let me extend an anticipatory welcome to the Prius v “Hive” and the Fight Against Petrol Terrori$m…One Gallon Of Gasoline Not Consumed At A Time. I hope your Prius v Five w/ Advanced Technology Package arrives soon.

A Black w/ Bisque interior Pv5ATP will be nice. We have a “Stealthy” Prius v Petrol Warfighter over here on the Florida Space Coast in what I consider the signature color combo for the v (vee), Magnetic Gray Metallic w/ Light Gray SofTex interior.

I invite you to join our Prius v, “Caddy In A Kimono” group at Yahoo Groups. Click this link to get there:http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/caddy_in-a_kimono/

As regards regrets, you will not regret not paying premium prices for Premium Unleaded motor fuel. You will not regret being able to electro-glide past gas station after gas station and filling up less often than you did with your Bimmer. You will not regret having the cavernous, “Washing Machine In A Box” size cargo hauling volume.

As I say, Prius v"v" for more "v"ersatility, "v"ery good driver road perspective "v"iew "v"isibility, "v"ery good fuel economy, and "v"oluminous and limousine-esque interior passenger seating and cargo hauling space.

As a lifelong car aficionado with a Porsche throttle-pedal honed and polished right foot, I have both a car lover’s and engineer’s critical eye for cars, and their associated “Techno Bells, Whistles & Spinning Red Wheels.” I am loving the designed-in-perfection I have found in this new 2012 Prius v.

Trust me, PriusvGirl, Toyota has created a fuel-sipping Grand Prii Winner – in the Euber-Prius v, a veritable “Caddy In A Kimono.” :plane:

I've had and driven high end cars and folks are correct. They aren't the same. The Prius isn't as quiet, has more road noise and a different ride. I wanted space and good mpg and got it. It's doubtful I'd buy another Mercedes. Nice car but pricey for parts and service. I remember an $1100 windshield wiper motor.

I love our v. We have 2 and they have been great. Yes they have a few issues we'd like to see change but those items are far down the priority list. On the top of our list was Safe, reliable, good gas mileage and spacious. On those points it has been awesome. W

I hear ya, I was hoping for at the very least, a 5 disc gramophone, bluetooth telegraph, and I was forced to fashion my own cage in the cargo area for my homing pigeons.

Yes, we are trying to be funny. Otherwise, the moderators take us out to the shed and beat us with a wet rubber hose until Morale improves.

On the more serious side, we try to be straightforward about people's decisions, in the end, it is up to you what you like and not like. Just as we all have our likes and not likes as well. No car will be 100% perfect to everyone, you just have to go with your gut and ask questions to help get you better informed.

Why Do Forums Always Look Like Complaint Departments?

All "enthusiasts web sites" seem like complaint departments at first glance.

It's just human nature to ask a question about (e.g.) an unusual sound. Nobody ever mentions that their car is blissfully free from squeeks and rattles, though.

And a lot of complainers are real drama queens. There is a thread here that screamed that the way the Prius v radio stored radio station presets was a "Huge Flaw!" or something just as dramatic.

Bottom Line: Don't worry, you're going to absolutely LOVE your Prius v - and you'll be spoiled for life once you start averaging 45 + mpgs and see how little maintenance it requires.

PS: And don't believe anything you read on the Internet.

Re: do you regret owning the PriusV?

there is always a level of compromise when changing vehicles. its usually more money, more commitment, etc. but sounds like you need more space and for the price and performance, there is very little to chose from.

yes, you can get the space but at a much higher price but you cannot get the performance and the space on anything at any price.

what it boils down to; how badly do you want the space and how much are you willing to pay for it?

I posted earlier but didn't answer OP's question directly. Simply, no I don't regret it. I have 37k on mine and I think it's an awesome vehicle. Its technology rocks and pays huge dividends in what little I spend on gas. My other car is a sedan with quite a bit of horsepower and it offers a much nicer ride than the Prius, at all speeds, and is fun to drive. But, when I drive the Prius I still often try and maximize MPG on a given trip just as something to do. It's just a totally different experience.

NO REGRETS! It was bought just for the mpgs...If it got 42 mpg back when gas was $3.15 a gallon we'd save $200 a month toward its $280 payment. Back when gas was $4.15 it saved $255 compared to the van we traded in for it. But, the wife has been getting 48-51 on the last 4 tanks.....You do the math.

No Regrets here. We’ve had ours about 6 months and have 5000 miles on it. We’ve taken it to the beach, fully loaded with our family of 4, along with grandma and two large dogs. Best car ever and the gas savings is a wonderful bonus!:)

Just for the record - at least right now, my v is blissfully free of squeaks and rattles. :D

It's bound to accumulate some rattles (and pacifiers and cheerios) once the twins are born, though... ;)

The grinding noise went away on my V. I have the base model don't have Entune but I wish I had leather seats in my V. The steering wheel is kind of cheap but I didn't buy it for the steering wheel I bought it for the mileage. It is not fast like a BMW my sisterinlaw has one and drives it fast everywhere. It does come with a backup camera and that is nice driving out of steep driveways. Smartphones integrate well through the stereo speaker. You can answer your phone on the steering wheel or on the screen. If you need extra space and drive to far off places a V is good for distance and cargo.
