They don't offer lifetime subscriptions anymore. I just called them 2 days ago.

I think I fall into that category with my wife's Prius. We got it well over a year ago. It was a leased vehicle. The Satellite radio is still working, complete with the Nav option. Maybe they just haven't caught up with me. I'm not sure if I'd renew since my wife prefers local AM/FM and I have all the music i need on my iPod. I'll probably never hear from XM since they don't know who I am unless they research my VIN thru Toyota. So I will enjoy the freebie as long as I can.

My car is a different story. I got the 70 dollar promo for the first year but paid the big bucks for the second year. This time I will let it expire thanks to my iPod Bluetooth connection. If they want to drop the price to 35 bucks/year, I'll probably reconsider. Otherwise I got pretty tired listening to the same songs over and over on the XM stations.

Tune the radio to channel 1, which should work even if the radio is not activated. It runs demos and promos for the various other channels, and the display will show the radio's serial number.

The subscription deal you get is highly dependent on which CS rep you talk to. Some can't be bothered to deal, but some will almost give away the store to retain you as a customer.

Price update. I checked my account today, as I knew the charge was supposed to hit June 7 when my trial ended. They stuck to the price of $30 (+$2.87 in taxes) but now it is only for six months. I called back and fought with them to no avail. I told them when I called I questioned the rep multiple times and was assured multiple times that the price was for a 12-month subscription. Got nowhere. I said I would be calling back December 6 to cancel. I was offered a $25 renewal rate for another 6 months. I unpolitely declined.
