Drove in to the dealer where I had test drove a c two weeks ago, but it was loaded and I only want the base model.

I had a 10 Prius II with 32K on it and I bought it there two years ago.

I saw the c on the lot and looked at it. The salesman asked if I was interested as it was the base model. I said only if it is an even trade.

He got the manager and they looked at mine. The salesman said the best we can do is yours and $445.00. I said close enough and made the trade.

I had paid an even $22K for the Prius II and that was after a $1K rebate which is rare on a Prius. In the two years that I drove it, I averaged 58 MPG and saved about $3K in gas over the car that I traded in would have gotten.

So, I got $19,500 trade and that makes the two year depreciation $2,500. I am very happy with that.

My goal is to see if I can better the mpg results over the Prius II.

You sound well-versed in the ways of the Prius, getting 58 mpg with the Prius II. Check back and let us know what you can do with the c! I'm guessing you're going to be pleasantly surprised.

Good trade in value for your old car. But you got a base Prius C, and had to pay $445 still? Seems a little off.... Anyways, congrats!

But he knocked 32K miles off of the car he drives. I also think he's going to further improve his mpg.

It is the Habanero (sp) color. Took it out today and had the display on the drivers info page. The first short leg to a pizza place over a very hilly road was 68 mpg. The next leg to a Walmart into the wind yielded 62mpg as did the trip home. So my Prius II technique will pay off.

Tried to post a pic but I got the message that I needed five post first.

I will wait until about 1K miles and then zero trip B and leave it to log the rest of the average mpg for as long as I have it.

In this midwest market area Prius's are not that popular. To get 19,500 for the $22K list car two years an 32,000 miles later is good. Had I went to any other brand the offer would have been much lower. It's only money anyhow. With many area's paying over msrp for the c's and the fact that there are hardly any at the dealers, It was more than ok.

MSRP on the C was $19,945 so with the $19,500 trade that left $445. I should have posted the c's price on the first post. In California some are paying $23K for the base model.
