I was wondering if anyone had any experience with using Plasti Dip on a car. Would it be easy to use to black out the center of the front bumpers. I watched some videos at dipyourcar.com was wondering what you'll thought, it would be easier for me never done vinyl before.

    I used plasti-dip... very easy.

Kept bumper on, taped everything off, 4-5 coats, carefully separated tape/plasti-dip with a utility knife, done

    I'll take/post pics later

thou you say there are imperfections i think it looks great and will be following your example, do you know if there will be a problem with fading as time goes on due to exposer to the elements?

there's probably a slight chance if the vinyl was removed and the other paint fades... however... i can only imagine A LONG time to the elements and years of UV exposure to make a noticeable difference.

i would love to know how you applied it so well even thou you mention that there are imperfections.. i tried vinyl wrapping just the center portion of the front bumper and failed miserably. i had trouble with the indentation area of the bumper where the vinyl didn't want to conform and remained as a bubble.. any words of advise on this...

quality of vinyl plays a major factor from over the years i've messed around with vinyl wraps and designs.

i used the 3M 1080 series which not only does not need a wet-application (which I'm actually used to).. but the vinyl has a good amount of flexibility that allows it to conform and stretch around bumps and corners. also, you want to have a heat gun in your arsenal.. good vinyl can heal itself with a little application of heat... so if there are any creases or for some reason the adhesive is sticking to itself and a little bit hard to pull apart.. heat will fix all that up.

as with anything else, there are still limits. the vinyl might be able to stretch, but it can still only stretch out so much. better vinyl materials for this application will obviously have a higher limit and be a lot more forgiving.
