Need some insight 2007 Prius

    As some already know, I am still a newbie :mod: when it comes to the Prius, but a long time Toyota fan, I own 3 other Toyotas but would like a newer more fuel efficient car.

    I took the advice of the forum on the last 2007 I looked at which had over 200K miles. :D I currently am looking at another 2007 from a Seattle area dealer with 114K miles and a one owner. Here is the carfax:

    Burien Used 2007 Toyota Prius Touring Seattle

    Anyone here have any dealings with Burien Toyota? I am looking to try to get them down to what I think I can afford which is around $12K, tell me what you think and is this a good deal? Still not totally comfortable with dealers but would be the best option as I will need to finance. Anything that jumps to mind for me to check or try to negociate with the dealer? what has worked for any of you when dealing with a dealer? Ok THANKS to all of you, Your advice on the last Prius I looked at made me feel much better about my decision to pass on the high milage Prius, so I need toat warm fuzzy from you all!     They list it as a "Touring" model but, it doesn't look like one. It doesn't have the touring rims (at least it doesn't look like it). If you can determine its not a touring model, you may be able to use that against them. The NADA only lists a $500 premium for the touring model though. From what I can tell about $14k would be a fair price.

    Other than that, you'll just have to nitpick for scratches and interior wear. I don't know but, I think you may be hard pressed to get them down to $12K. I hope I'm wrong on that though.

    I thought all of the Touring models had navigation? This one doesn't.

    Rule of thumb, I usually go halfway between KBB.com's wholesale and private party value. Figure they paid about 1000 less than kbb wholesale, allow 3k markup, and bargain hard to there.

    And watch that place, from the ad they either don't know Prius's from squat, (thats NOT a touring model, they have NAV and foglights) or inflating the car. Also, what's up with the mileage claims?

    Watch a couple episodes of "Pawn Stars" pretend you're Rick Harrison, and deal 'em hard.

    For comparison, I bought my 2007 Certified Prius last month for $13,000. It was listed for $13,900.

    It had 70,765 miles. I believe it is a package 4. HIDs, fog lights, SKS, JBL, backup camera.

    Thanks for the info guys, I went for a drive today, it was really nice, very smooth handling, responsive. The car has factory tinted windows all around, backup cam but no navigation, I pointed that out to them and they said it was mis labeled in the ad. Got more infomation on the car as it was a one ower, they traded in on another Prius, The service deaprtment went through the car, they replaced all 4 tires with Goody Year Integras, ne cabin filter, new oil and filter. also they gave me 12 months/12,000 miles limited warranty on the car as well so I feel for $13,400 I got a pretty good deal, happy so far. The drive home was nice. I will post up a few pics later. I guess I am finally here, so be expecting to hear more from me. I love mods so I am up to hear what are the best upgrades that can be done. I guess the first question I have right now is the navigation syste, has anyone done an install o f the OEM navigation system? I have a garmin Nuvi but having the factory system would be nice. the steerign wheel has the buttons for the "MAP" but tells you not installed when you push it. Looking forward to taking this on my trip to SoCal in about 2 months, should be interesting. Once again THANKS!

    Eeek... sounds like they put on crappy Goodyear Integrity tires (those are the ones that come on all 04-09 non-Touring Priuses). If it were up to me, I'd put on better tires. Oh well. There are no more Integrities on my Prius.

    As for trying to install OEM nav on a non-nav car. Forget, at Toyota's part prices, it'd be prohibitively expensive unless you get your parts are salvage yard prices. You're better off not bothering.

    Someone here can probably put up a pointer to examples of some of the part prices.

    You'd need a NAV MFD to start, which is typically $600+/-.

    OK new to the acronyms so what did you just tell me! LOL (yeah NAV I got that one roflol)

    I guess what I am asking is if I could find one in a wrecking yard what am I gonna need?

    MFD = multifunction display aka the color LCD.

    Since you have the backup camera, you should already have the higher res LCD that became available on the 06+ models. Not sure if the MFD assembly includes the buttons to the left and right of the unit. A nav equipped Prius will have 4 buttons to the left of the LCD and 3 to the right. On the right side, you should see MAP and DEST buttons. If you don't have those, you'll need to get either an MFD or the assembly w/those buttons.

    Besides that, you'll need the DVD drive (and control unit?) underneath the driver's seat. You're almost certainly missing the GPS antenna (I believe it's somewhere in the dash) and any wiring. Not sure what else might be missing, but this is just for starters.
