Is it easier to "pulse and glide" on Prius v or previous models?
I've notice I can easily run at 35mph on electric motor only but that is using the battery charge so I don't think it could be categorized as gliding.

To glide I think I need to let go of a gas pedal a bit more. I've never tried this technique as I've not notice a point where ICE is OFF and battery is not used or charged.

I was trying to experiment with "pulse and glide" on Prius v but it seems to me it is impossible to glide on Prius v

I can not seem to find a moment where Eninge is not running and the traction battery is not charged or suppling power to the wheels.

When I get to speed 40mph let go the gas, the wheels are charging the battery, if I slightly press on the gas (one bar "up" in the first green ECO sector) the ICE is OFF but traction buttery is propelling the wheels.

The best mode I was able to find is to get up to speed ~40mph and release the gas slightly, the indicator is half way in the first green ECO sector. In this condition the ICE is running and charging the battery and it display Average about 58MPG

It seem to me "glide" mode was eliminated on Prius V

Another way to put it in glide mode is to get up to speed 40mph and shift to Neutral but this is not practical.

How are you monitoring the system to know that the traction battery is still powering the car?

Putting the car in neutral is not the same as gliding. In a glide you should see infinite mpg (9999) as displayed on the scangauge. If you put it in neutral the best you can is about 350mpg.

I'm checking the energy monitor screen, see screen attached. When car is in motion "gliding" would be the scenario: "when there in no energy flow" from the picture attached, am I correct?

But this picture you will only see if car is standing on the intersection with ICE OFF (not in motion).

Ps. I have Canadian model and the display shows L/100km so my display shows "0" when engine is not running. I think this would be equivalent to your 9999mpg

Question; maybe that's it. Why do you think it's not practical to put it in neutral when going down a big hill for example? I am experimenting with this driving technique now.will report results.

Because neutral dos not cut fuel flow like gliding does. Gliding shuts down the injectors so you are getting essentially infinite mpg. In neutral the best you can achieve is about 330mpg. This is based on the GenII. The programming issues with the GenIII and ScangaugeII make observations difficult but they seem to be similar to the GenII.

Someone needs to purchase a Scangauge and monitor the system to see if you can find proxy data to identify a glide situation like we have for the GenIII.
