I purchased Torque full version and trying to figure out how to enter gen2 Prius extended PIDs. I cannot figure out the formula simply because I don't understand what the variables stand for.

    Anyone has a clue?

Have you tried TorqueWiki . There is a plugin that scans for the codes also http://market.android.com/details?id=org.prowl.torquescan
This is a plugin for the Torque OBD2 application that shows all the data that Torque has access to as well as some other features that some may find useful for OBD debugging.
    * Quick and easy display of available ECU sensors
    * OBD PID scanner to quickly map and locate extended PIDs
    * Telnet server that allows direct connection to the adapter to allow far easier debugging.

Thanks, James. I have the Torque Scan plugin installed but I have not tried it. I decided to stop wasting time with the Elm327 clone.

My PLX Kiwi Bluetooth ($99) should be here tomorrow. I will try Torque and Torque Scan with it when I get it.

I will also get the OBDLink SX ($49.99) on Saturday. It is USB only so that is to try Prius CAN monitor (ELM327 version) with my Netbook.

That's a lot of toys for me to keep me busy for awhile. :D

Would like to see how the Tablet is embedded into the Dash, and keep the original Radio body.

The Radio settings (e.g.: FM station preset) will be gone after power lost (e.g.: change the 12V battery without a backup battery).

Since the Radio panel is removed, is it able to re-program the Radio body via CAN-BUS? (Using an application running on the Android Tablet, just like the NAV MFD)

I noted when I read the devices version number using Torque Pro that it was v1.3. It also indicated the chip in the unit doing the processing was a ELM327. I have seen Ebay variants with version v1.5 firmware. I wonder what v1.5 does better than v1.3. I can not find anything in searches on what the differance is between v1.3 v1.4 and v1.5! It might be a good thing to find out. I am also wondering if our PLX units are firmware upgradeable!

Generally, there is no 1.5 official version - see the link. I don't think that any ELM327 based interface is easily upgradeable, as ELM327 doesn't offer the bootloader.

I will have some daytime pics up soon. I wasn't even paying attention to this thread.

I used the OEM car mount along with the metra double din kit. The kit was cut to fit the samsung gt car mount and attached to the dd kit. All wrapped with Carbon fiber wrap.

I removed the radio's front panel out with a few screws and clips and place the dd kit over. There is plenty of room. Sound was through a bluetooth kit but now I have the SGT connected to the audio in jack.

If my battery ever goes out or if I loose power I just remove the dd kit (which is pretty easy) and put the front radio screen on just to set the stations and then put back the dd kit and done.

    Its pretty easy.

This was a fantastic idea! And with the SGT 2 out at only 250, there are certainly a lot of possibilities. I would also love to see some pictures with better lighting, just to get an idea of what you have going where.

I understand the audio works through the aux, do you have it charging through a lighter outlet? Or did you manage to hard wire it in somewhere? Installation looks simple enough.

Final 3 questions, what do you do for data? Wifi hotspot or built in 3G connectivity? Or is there a navigation app that downloads the maps locally so a data connection isn't 100% necessary? Lastly, do you find the ability to no longer use dvd's or cd's aggravating? I mean, bringing it inside to sync up with the media on your computer isn't a big deal, just curious.

    Brilliant stuff!

I always wondered why the car manufacturers don't do something similar, hook up with Samsung or other tablet manufacturers and make a plug in port option.

All the installed navs are such crap compared to the smartphone/tablets.

Long story short - automaker's margins. AFAIk only Citroen/Renault use the TomTom navigation system as built-in NAV.

I'm not so sure a 9.7'' screen would fit, and/or if there are apps available that would make it worth it...

What shift nob are you trying to find? Or are you looking for the LED ring?

I was never able to find it either. The thing is, you can probably just get a ring of any blue led, and add it pretty easily... Doesn't have to be made specially for the prius...

I am looking for a decent way to light up the shift nob, rather than the area below it.
