I'm new to this forum and originally posted in the incorrect place...

Anyone know what my options are for a cracked 2010 navigation screen?
Here’s what I’ve garnered from extremely limited internet research:
    (1) Dealer: $4295 and a headache
    (2) Heretofore unreachable repair-man email address: $650 (?)
    (3) Ebay Part-pimps: $995 + shipping with a couple of scratches thrown in for free
    (4) DIY rumors of take-the-shards-out & replace it with glass/plastic
    (5) DIY with factory ordered between screen & film layer from maybe JPL/Danso??
My wallet likes the ideas of the last couple options, but my logic tells me they are perhaps just pipe dreams.
Anyone out there knowledgeable on the matter or tried or have contacts for parts/glass-like-piece etc?
    I’d really appreciate any info/insights.

The 2010 NAV screen sucks so I'd look for a better screen or wait until Toyota updates the screen in the Gen III and get that.

    How did it get cracked?

I take it this is not a warranty repair? If that's the case, and you can't find a reasonable replacement on e-Bay, I'd look aftermarket. You could end up with more functions for less money, and actually be able to change destinations or search of POIs while driving!

Not a warranty repair...I was stupidly using my car to transport a table for a friend and it whacked the screen.

I've replaced broken display glass in a couple of cell phones and it wasn't particularly difficult.

I don't have a source for factory nav repairs, but these guys

replace broken iPad glass. I think there would be a good chance that they could point you in the right direction, even if they don't want to tackle a nav screen.

There are web sites to search junk yards. I am sure there are a few 2010 Prius's that are totaled. It is worth the time to try to find one.

Thanks for the lead, they only deal with mac product though.

When you replaced the screen, where did you order the parts (i.e. the glass/plastic piece)?

    Thanks!

I bought the cell phone glass at two different places on eBay. They come and go. They were just small vendors selling phone parts.

You most practical affordable solution is probably to find a used unit with a good screen.

Does anyone out there have the contact details of a repair-person who was rumored to be in the business of fixing this sort of thing?

    Thanks again!

Just replace it with a nice aftermarket unit & save yourself some money.

oops too newbie to post links....was attempting to link to Amazon.com subject item

Anyone have success with this "OEM Replacement" part?
