Background (not sure if it's relevant): My car was in the body shop for 13 days. I got it back on 8/24. Damage was too the bottom right side, doors and adjacent body.

When i picked up the car and drove it, it seemed fine except that the MPG average was only 25mpg. Normally for me, it's around 38 to 40. It has gradually come back up. for this reason, i was frequently pressing the Info button on the steering wheel to bring up the screen that shows the current mpg average.

Yesterday, when i pressed Info, there was a delay in bringing the screen up. At first it seemed not to respond, but then it came up. Today, it was OK at first, but then, it stopped responding at all and didn't come back on. i can still pull up the information using the dashboard MFD, but can't use the steering wheel control.

Later in the day, i noticed that when i pressed the Recirc button, it too did not respond. These buttons are on the right side of the steering wheel. The Map button did work, as did the bluetooth phone buttons, but the Recirc, Vent and Info buttons do not respond.

Does anyone know what this might be?

It appears that the wiring harness to the steering wheel buttons has a loose connection.

Did any airbags deploy during the accident, especially the driver's airbag in the steering wheel?

No, it was a minor accident as far as impact goes. I was parked in a gas station next to a building and my passenger told me to turn right into an alley. I didn't realize there was a high curb next to the building. When i turned right, the high curb scraped the car at about 3 mph.

I tried to embed a photo of the damage in this post, so you might imagine what the body shop had to take apart but i was unsuccessful. i tried uploading a photo to Flickr and then pasting the link into 'insert image' but it didn't work. Priuschat kept adding code that i didn't use (adding an extra ) and then posting a blank image th...4953711093/" They replaced the front door.

My 2006 Prius, never been in an accident, seems to have just started doing the same thing. Info and recirculate buttons don't work, all the others appear to. If I turn the wheel 90degrees either way they work fine. I am sure it is not that the buttons are worn out. Does anyone know if they use brushes or wire to connect the wheel to the car electrically?
