Welcome to the world of Prii As for winter tires, I personally like the General "altimax" I think thats what they are called. I kept looking at tirerack.com till I found the rims I like at a price I liked. They always have rims on closeout/specials. I got 4 rims and tires mounted and balanced and shipped to my house for less then $650.

 

See my signature for common mods, as for tires I'm really happy with my General Altimax tires. And I had all 4 of them mounted and balanced at walmart for $25!

2. Progress rear Swaybar about $115 see the ongoing posts in the mod section
3. front strut tower brace from eBay $45 or $90 depending on which one you get
4. BlueAnt s4 -- $60 hands free bluetooth
5. Chrysler shorty antenna $4 -- Part number is in my signature
6. Auto lock
7. Weathertech Window guards
8. Washers under the front seat mounts to improve the tilt, about 3 or 4 washers make a huge difference.

Yes. It's not advised to use HID kits on the Gen II Prius. Unless you like blinding oncoming cars. Check F8L's posts on this subject.

 

the problem with those is that they are just for the low beam. since our bulbs are dual fillament, the low and high beam affect is created by adjusting the angle of the bulb, or a cover that slides back and forth, the motors that change the angle, or move the slide require their own power source in addition to the hid, and ballast. So there are no true "plug-and-play" systems that I've seen. they all require running power wires to the battery. The problem is the prius battery is in the trunk...

I'd say swap out for better bulbs, Im happy with my phillips night guide bulbs that you can get from Napa or amazon.com

 

tint the windows. this thing's like a fish bowl. it gets hot sitting in the sun. let me rephrase: pay someone to tint the windows. i just tried to do mine myself and it looks like dooky.

 

From your list:

1. Bluetooth = You will get the Bluetooth from your new stereo.

3. HID headlights = Don't do it unless you plan on doing a real retrofit or purchasing new headlight assemblies that come complete with projector style headlights. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...16-headlight-projector-retrofit-hids-max.html
4. Fog lights = I wouldn't bother with them unless you just want them for looks. The OEM units are junk and don't help with night driving. If you want better visibility then do a retrofit on the headlights. A full retrofit can cost upwards of $600+ if you cannot do the work yourself.
5. Wheels = totally your choice. Just know that larger wheels will negatively affect mpg and cost more per mile to run. The trade off is better looks and handling/traction.
6. Winter tires = Nokian WRG2 or for serious weather the Michelin Xice are a good LRR choice especially with the $70 Michelin rebate.

If you want a dedicated winter tire, take a look at the Nokian hakkapeliitta. I've met quite a few rally racers who have them fitted on their dailys (disclaimer: I also have these tires). Nokian Hakkapeliitta R

Ps. No I don't own this company, or benefit anyway by recommending it, I have one, and it was a well built quality part, well worth the money.

 

Here's a shot of mine. I haven't done anything too crazy (aside from the sound system) The rims do hurt the MPG a touch, but I still average right around 42 mpg:

The tint was ENTIRELY worth it to me. I went with single limo on the front windows and double limo on the rear. It is technically illegal here in California, but oh man, it's worth it.

Mine is a package 9, so it came with factory bluetooth, HID headlights, and nav. But I swapped out the headlight bulbs from the OEM 4,300k to Phillips 6,000k. The fogs, I installed a 6,000k HID kit to match the headlights. The LEDs in the middle, I purchased from KK6PD (Another fellow user on here).

As for the rims, they're slightly unnecessary 18x7.5" Volk TE37s. I really wanted the white on blue, so I just went for it.

Then I've got the shark fin and bumper protector, but those are fairly simple.
