I just bought a Prius C, my first hybrid, and have not been diagnosed with OCD, however, I find myself obsessing over the Eco screen while driving, trying to make sure not to hit the red zone if at all possible. I also make sure to hit the accelerator instead of gliding based on my readings here.

When I do hit the red zone in situations where it's not warranted, I feel very guilty and try at all costs to keep it on the green zone.

Is it possible I have an undiagnosed case of OCD or does this sometimes happen with hybrid drivers?

    I'm getting there ;)
I think it also brings out the video gamer in me, it's like some kind of self competition to beat the last best score. *shakes fist at how fun it is*.

I finally decided to leave the screen on driver info as the other screens are too distracting. My salesman's final words to me were: "Look at the road when you drive - too many of my customers are watching the screen while driving." :)

PS: Seriously - I did have a mild case of OCD as a child - don't want to jump start it again by watching the pretty flowing arrows and multi-color graphics.

I've gotten adept at just looking for cues at the periphery of my vision so I don't need to look. In fact I think just by my foot pressure alone I already instinctively know where on the eco chart it'll generally be lol so I hardly ever need to look at it. The times I do need to have a quick look is when I take the foot off accelerator then back on slightly to let the EV kick in and then bring it to max EV speed just before the gas engine kicks in.

A few times I've switched to a screen other than the eco indicator to check something, but as soon as I go to take off from a stop I feel an overwhelming need to switch to the eco indicator so I can make sure I'm hitting the right zone of the graph. That is by far my favorite display. Just filled up after completing my 2nd tank of fuel, calculated as 58.0 mpg on the 2nd tank. I'm quite satisfied with that. Would love to be over 60 mpg but I was in a hurry a couple of the trips.

It takes a while to get used to driving a Prius. They tend to draw you in to the mpg thing. After a while your new driving style will become second nature and you'll be able to tell how you're doing. I find myself driving the same way now, regardless of which vehicle I'm in.

Yeah, I've been made fun of quite a bit for my hypermiling at times. But when you can get 72 or 78 MPG over a long trip I mean that is just a good feeling. I do feel like I need the Eco Score screen but I've switched just to test it and saw very comparable results without being able to see that.

I like how I think I've become a better driver because of having my faults pointed out on a display. Bottom line, if you can nail a 5/5/5 score more than once you are a good driver regardless of the 150 pickups that will want to run you over no matter how you keep up with traffic.

Same here, driving has started to feel weird without it. For me, it's become no more distracting than a quick check of the speedometer. Glance at that, glance at the Eco meter, and back to the road.
