(engine [rjw]) restarts when you lift your foot?

    Everybody knows Consumer Reports, car reviews have some problems but usually they don't make a factual error:

    Restarting an engine is something the GM BAS and Honda hybrids do. I don't have a "Prius c" to test but what I know of the Toyota hybrid control laws, they DO NOT restart the engine because the brake is released. The engine does come on if additional power is needed but otherwise, it remains off. Still, things do change.

    Can any "Prius c" owners confirm this previously unknown, control law?

    once the car warms up and you stop at a light the ice will shut off when you take off the ice will start again inless you take off slow

    If my batteries have a charge it will just be EV mode if I lift my foot off the brakes from a standstill, otherwise it's like you said, when additional power needed.

    ^^that's got nothing to do with taking your foot off the brake and everything to do with getting deep into the throttle.

    Just chiming in with agreement--simply taking your foot off the brakes does not cause the ICE to engage.
