Shark Fin added to My C

did you get a shark fin from Beat-Sonic ?
if so, which one and are you happy with it ?
match your color well ?

 

Is the satellite radio antenna part of this assembly and if so, has anyone noticed any performance issues with sat reception?

 

I love the Shark Fin. I've had my C for 1 week, and I replaced the antenna the day I got it. I pre-ordered the Shark Fin from priuschat. $78 I think. The reception is fine. No difference. My C doesn't have SAT so I can't comment on SAT reception.

The color matches perfectly, and the install took 15min.

I highly recommend it. It looks so much better than factory.

 

I got one from Beat-Sonic. It costs more, but I already had one from Prius chat for my previous gen II and wanted something different.

It is the model 4 (FDA4). I communicated with them and they told me 3 of their mocels would fit. I liked the look of this one. Although their website does not indicate, i think they can match all the c colors.

As far as I can tell, its performance matches the oem.

 

Off topic, but what did you use to black out your Toyota Logo?

 

'Dupli-Color Shadow Chrome Black-out Coating' is what it says on the box.

where did you guys get the cover from? ebay?

will the black color match the Prius C black?

 

what cover..? the sharkfin antenna itself?

and the black spray paint won't match the stock color... is it a big difference though? probably not.

 

I got mine from Priuschat shop, a bit too big to me but I like the shape and they have the color matching my car's code plus cheaper. Beat Sonic would match the Black Sand Pearl but has to customer painted in Japan.

One thing I don't like is the double sided foam tape, it's about 2mm thick and deep gray in color giving me kind of cheap look after I installed. I took it out, used a thinner molding tape, and colored the tape with touch up paint matching my car's code. Unless in certain angle and brightness, I can't see the color different. Here's a picture.

 

installed my shark fin today on my c2, no pictures yet. Easy to install. Pictures from prior posts helpful.
Also got mine from priuschat accessories and color matched perfectly. the dark gray tape didn't bother me so I left it on.
Reception for FM seems great

 

Beat-Sonic matches the paint, has a rubber base into which the painted 'fin' fits (see the first photo in post #25 above), so the adhesive doesn't show. It is smaller but more expensive. Personally, I think it looks better than the PC fin. Tastes vary.

the paint is matched.. like.. wow.

also note.. this design is made for the smaller antenna mount that is seen on the Scion iQ, FR-S.. and the package #1&2 Prius C.. so anyone with a package 3 or 4 won't be able to get this one.

they do. they have different styles.

i just happened to choose the smallest style i know that fits my antenna base.. i'd like to keep it small

 

Probably have to give them a call, their website is not updated for the C yet. I'm curious as to the differences between the two, not necessarily style, but function. I listen to Sat radio all the time, so having it not interfere with Sat reception is important to me.

And, you drove all the way to LA from the bay area to get a shark fin?

 

I was down there also for the Tanabe R&D... so I dropped by Beat-Sonic in La Mirada to pick up the fin on the way back up.

I also went to Disneyland too while I was waiting for my car to be done too... so I got some additional fun out of it

 

I got mine from right here.It was easy to do , sound great and makes the car faster!

 

Where'd you get the moon discs? Are they snap on?
