Fantastic job, guys! Very informative and with some fun added to the review.

Personally, I am waiting to get myself one during first quarter of next year. Initially, thought about getting the lift-back / regular Prius, but after testing the V couple of days ago, I realized that there is so much more car & value for the price difference. Sounds a perfect companion for a 2 + 2 family of mine.

    Take care!

Our v Five replaced a Dodge Grand Caravan and we don't notice any cargo hauling capacity missing...

Anyone know the height of the cargo area from floor to ceiling with the second row up and seats all the way to the rear? About 28"? And with the rear seats all the way back, is it about 38"deep? And about 40" wide between wheel wells?

If so, that's only about 24.6 CuFt, so where are the other 10CuFt?

thanks for the video. i am contemplating getting a V from a prius hatchback model two 2012. I was curious though about space. i feel a bit cramped up in my current car. need something larger, would also like the added space of the hatch too.

The cargo hold and wide opening were what sold us. We drove the regular Prius then the V. We both found the seats more ample in the V, not to mention getting in and out was easier. Our golf clubs fit far easier in the V, and I load two bags plus pull carts without adjusting the rear seats at all. The dimensions bely just how much roomier the V is.

From what I found online, the width between the wheel wells of the Prius V is 39" and 36" from the back of the rear seats to the hatch. This is within an inch of my 2006 Prius. Granted due to the sloping roof there will be more height in the rear, but if the Prius V is 6" longer, where did the extra 6" go?? It wasn't in the rear seats, as there seems like less room in the back seat of the Prius V as compared to my Gen II Prius. I also have a Honda Fit, and it has 40" inches between the wheel wells, 30" on the floor from hatch to back of rear seats and it's 35" tall. So it's about 3.5' wide x 2' deep (average with seat angle) x 3' tall = 21cuft in my Honda Fit. I'm just trying to figure out how they got the 34cuft for the Prius V. I think I'll just wait for the Gen IV Prius to come out. If it has a larger cargo area than the regular Prius than I'll go for that .

BobLikesHisPrius, good points. Just adding my 2c: while I did not have access to a Gen II Prius, I can attest to the fact that the V storage is extremely generous, much more compared to the Gen III Liftback's. tossing in a stroller with three regular-size suitcases, not a problem at all; the Liftback could accommodate only one suitcase.

Honestly, the V's trunk space makes my '11 Altima's look foolishly constrained.

If you can, just test it with your regular gear that you plan to carry.

    Thanks.

This weekend I lowered the seats and stuck a nearly 8 foot Christmas Tree in my V. People were standing behind us wondering where the heck I was going to put it ;) Still had plenty of room left in the back for groceries.

I wish I had had the money to buy a Prius v! I have two big dogs and two younger kids... I feel like people laugh when we go to the vet's office but we get it done...

I'm gonna use a defibrillator on this thread to ask a question.....

In the Gen 3, you can fold the rear seat down and RECLINE the front seat, which will actually fit in front of the folded rear seat (gotta remove the head rest, of course).

With a support where the passenger's butt would be, this permits a piece of plywood to be laid flat from the glove box all the way to the tail gate.

Is that possible with the Prius v?

Not on my '12 v3. The front seat can move forward and incline a few degrees toward the front but will not go down so the seat back is parallel to the seat cushion. Just tested.

I think he meant recline the front seat backwards, creating support from cargo floor to passenger footwell. I haven't tried it on our 2012 v Five.
