Sirius/XM solicited a "survey of your last contact with customer service". Let's just say that my overall tone was rather "unfavorable". The contrast with my informative and professional contact with the Entune support representative was stark.

cool, yes... they sent me a survey asking why i did not convert my trial sub to paid, and i let them have it.

chances are though, the incessant badgering of sales leads is working for them, so they will keep doing it, i'm sure.

Just wondering why you guys are so down on XM radio....I think it is wonderful.....had a '06 Prius previously that was supposed to be "XM Ready" but that didn't really mean anything because Toyota wanted several hundred dollars to install the "XM Ready" radio. So I passed....but this time it is already in the car and I couldn't be happier. Between XM, Pandora and my iPod, I have yet to listen to AM or FM radio yet!

Others have their reasons, but I was not unhappy with the XM service itself ... I actually renewed my audio subscription. It was their customer service dealing with my questions about the data service that ticked me off. Basically implying that I was part of some fraud scheme concerning a 3-year complimentary data service plan which they insisted didn't exist. Technically, they were right: it isn't a complimentary plan at all; it is a separate contract between them and Entune. But they sure did not treat me very well.

Frankly I love my iPod and Pandora. FM HD radio is REALLY nice, sounds much better than XM. XM still has commercials on most channels, their channel line up changes a lot and its hard to find a station that I actually like.

I don't see XM or Sirius lasting much longer. Too easy to get anything over a smart phone.

They are in for a surprise with me, I have a Sirius lifetime subscription (was $500 in 2005), they are now allowing these subscriptions to be moved to XM radios for a one time $75 fee (another scam, but less than paying $12.99/month), because they are eventually eliminating the Sirius satellites (XM's are geosynchronous, plus they have a superior ground based repeater system in cities)

At any rate, I will move the subscription to the PiP, that will accomplish 2 things, they won't be harassing me about extending the free trial, and I won't have to pay them any more money. BTW, I had my 90 day trial upgraded to "premium" to get the Howard Stern channels, cost me under $10.00 for the 3 months.

Well basicaly customer service just plain SUCKS!
The service is way overpriced. $150 bucks per unit is stupid and wrong. Full price on one receiver, 5 of 10 bucks for each additional receiver fine. Just like the way Directv prices their service.
Last time I spoke with XM I cancelled 3 of my radios, and only kept the unit in my wifes car going, I said I do not want to pay $157 bucks, I want a better price, the rep came back and offered it to me for about $80 bucks! SOLD!!

I initially wasn't going to renew my trial subscription, but when they offered 6 months for $30, I took it. Also, one of my favorite radio stations in the area (KFOG) has recently gone through a bunch of programming changes that makes it no longer attractive to listen to them. So I'm willing to give XM another try. I have found a bunch of channels that seems like it will fill the niche that KFOG left, as well as giving me some new stuff I hadn't given a thought to. Just a matter of programming in the presets now...

The format has been subtly changing over the past year. They used to play a lot of adult/album oriented rock from the 60's all the way up to today's stuff. Lately they seem to have dropped the older stuff and gotten more "popish". Less variety. A number of DJ's have left (Big Rick) or been fired (Webster, Irish Greg, Peter Finch) and been replaced by DJ's who are trying to be edgy but just come off as lame (Dredd of the Night).

Anyone have a number that Sirius/XM uses when they call? I never answer calls from blocked numbers or numbers I don't know, but I'd like to get one of these guys on the line and see how low I can get them to go on their monthly rate …

well i would have been able to help you, but they started calling again re: the PIP and the last time they called, i just told them the had to stop calling me as it was becoming harassment. the rep immediately switched over to a new script, told me that it could take 10 days for them to get me out of their computer, and basically just hung up. it was weird, but welcome.

anyway, here are some numbers to try:

We discovered the XM Radio 3 month free with new car purchase late, and listened gratis for maybe a week before it shut off. Then phoned up, and signed up for a year subscription. The confirmation email said it would auto-renew, so I phoned them and empatically said I did not want them auto-renewing, would contact them at the end of subscription, let them know if I wanted to renew.

Of course all that fell on deaf ears. Long story short:

To terminate the subscription took a solid 10 minutes of heated, one way conversation. The one trump card I had: the credit card number they had from me was no longer valid, lol.

Finally I said something along the lines of "you're not going to win", and the guy finally got real and said ok.

These guys are really oily, almost as bad as our bank, lol.

Sirius/XM is in pretty dire financial straits, and apparently their management thinks that this hard-sell strategy is the solution.

My credit card company offers temporary numbers tied to the "real" number, and the primary advertised purpose of this feature is to enable you to break your relationship with a merchant, particularly an online merchant, who isn't cooperating. Each number has its own credit limit and expiration date, and can be cancelled at any time without effecting your "real" number. I use such a number for Sirius/XM in case I ever want to get rid of them.
