I did all the stuff I was supposed to do and it happened. I opened the tank to let it vent and went in to prepay. I put the pump handle on the slowest setting and before I thought it would automatically cut off I grew impatient and put it on the fastest it would pour. The problem was the pump shuts down slow at the end. I was put the pump handle up and it started spurting gas all over the place. Ok, maybe a cup or two, but it was tramatic.

Yep fast pump will do that. Not sure why you put the pump up at the end (I think thats what you are trying to say-read the last 2 sentences of your post) but that sure doesn't help.
Fill at 2 PIPS. Vent. Slowest pump till first click. Hang up pump. Done. ( I cut a little block of wood I put under the handle and I measured what the slowest pump size the block should be. Works grerat and I use that unattended pump time to check the oil) Check the oil at every fill up. Whole deal is like 5 minutes. If your in a super rush just fast pump 2 gallons in it and go. Fill later.
    Good Luck.

I vent for a min or two before putting on slowest setting. Regardless, I can usually squeeze in 2-3 more gallons after the initial click by barely squeezing the handle. If you overfill, it will spit and spray a little out. It's almost an art knowing when to give up and hang up the handle.

hmmm. I pump on full throttle, it kicks off, I top off to the nearest 25 cent increment and I'm on my way. Never had a spray issue. *knock on wood*

Note: Now that I have bragged about no spray, how much do you want to bet, I just jinxed myself, and within the next 3 fill ups, I will get the spray??

Chronically overfilling a Gen II by squeezing in a few more gallons after shutoff can damage the fuel tank and bladder assembly. Replacing them is not cheap.

After I removed the pump nozzle from my tank and put it back on the pump, as I turned around fuel started coming out of my fuel tank. I think the extremely slow pumping that the pump does on the last dollar defeats the automatic shut off.

I fueled up tonight with 538 miles from the last tank. I was on one pip and I managed to put 10.55 gals. before I got nervous and stopped. This time not a drop was spilt.
