Fuel gauge not Registering

    There is no way you took 7.4 gallons and then took another 7.4 gallons 2 hours later. The first station is to blame would be my guess but let's see what the dealer has to say which I suspect will not be anything judging from what you've described.

    just once, maybe. :cool: gas pumps are regulated locally by the department of weights and measures. you may want to report the first pump and your experience to them.

    I have just had the in-tank fuel filter replacement and I have a similar problem. The fuel gauge registered fuel out but not fuel in. The rest of the fuel related indicators are working and my Ultra Gauge is measuring the level of fuel correctly. The dealer thinks that the wiring has been incorrectly replaced and I am taking it in on Wednesday for investigation. My dealer is trustworthy. I think there has been an honest error and there will be no cost to me.

    Not trying to be mean or rude or anything, but is there any possibility that we're really looking at 'pilot error' on the part of the OP? Can we see the receipts from both gas fills? This just all sounds too odd.

    Went to the dealership today and was told that the gas tank has two individual bladders. these bladders do not always expand fully when gas is put into the tank. Without examining the car, just hearing my story, they told me with certainty:"there's nothing wrong with the car and it must've been the gas pump." There was no curiosity to look at the car, to look at the gas filling port, or anything else. They just dispensed that information and said come back for your 5000 mile check in and we'll take a look into this if necessary.

    Yeah, pretty much what I expected would happen.

    I don't know about the bladder thing. The Gen II had a bladder, not the Gen III. But the PiP does have a pressurized gas tank, but what that entails I don't know.
