No NFL playoffs that day? Check.

Ok, Jan 28th is okay here.

And for the record, I know of a place down by Joliet that we could use that has 6 heated garage bays... how's that drive for you, Tony?

Edit: For the record, I don't know of a place, just had to yank Tony's chain, since he complains about wasting over a gallon of gas each time we meet.

I was reading that first paragraph and saying to myself, "dangit, Matt! What's it with you danged southsiders making me drive all over Chicago's half acres. . ." [IMG]

Then I read the second paragraph.
Ya got me and this time it's your turn to do the driving. [IMG]

Would a Prius-envying gas guzzler driver be welcome? It's a bit far for me (FWIW, Schaumburg was much better since I work and go to school there), but I'd like to meet some of you folks and your beautiful cars.

Of course you're welcome, MacPrince. Hadn't heard from you in a while; almost gave up hope.

And trust me, the drive from Schaumburg to Buffalo Grove is less than half the drive from Gurnee to Schaumburg. Though in a self-proclaimed "gas guzzler" I'll willing to call it even. :)

Hey, I want to come! How close is the place to Gurnee Mills? I know how to get to Gurnee Mills. From there I would just need some help!

    Also what is this:

I got the SigmaAuto switch; genuine Toyota part ordered and delivered in December.

So this is an EV switch oked by Toyota? If so what does it cost? Will Toyota install it for me? Would it help me on short trips?

Sigma auto is a sponsor here on the boards and they sell genuine aftermarket toyota parts along with a few other things.

Ev switch is OK'd by toyota but not installed here in the us due to some "idiot factor" (at least thats what I'm going to call it) You might try searching the boards for it here. It uses only battery mode, and can drain your hybrid battery if you use it the wrong way.

Getting toyota to install ANYTHING can be a hassle. I can't seem to find a dealer around here that would know how to install my block heater, and I'm anxiously wanting to do it myself, but afraid I'm going to wind up screwing something up. (no offense meant here, but thats one reason why I'd like to do it in a group setting, cause I'm young, and well I've NEVER done my own car work I like help/people with experience knowledge of said car there when I do something like this) Some dealers know very few words other than "you'll void your warranty if you install that" which of course, is horse manure.

Its probably about another 30-45 minutes from Gurnee mills (its my estimate, depending on time of day, traffic, planning on getting lost at least once etc)

edit: if you're searching online to input a destination, I think this is the right one as an END destination. 910 Deerfield Parkway, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089

Tracy, I live very near Gurnee Mills Mall. If you would prefer, you can come to my house and we can carpool. Unless, of course, you would rather take your own car. I just figure that after the drive from Green Bay (which is a long one) you might want to stop driving.

Check out my post (#12 of this thread) and there is a link to Google Maps. If you want to drive yourself, you can route there from your house. If you want to carpool, I can PM my home address.

About the Sigma Auto EV switch, follow this link and scroll down to the "Interior" section and go almost all the way to the bottom of that section, 4th from the bottom, on the left side. http://www.sigmaautomotive.com/jdm/prius/prius0405.php

Also, I want to ask anyone coming if they have the switch yet. I printed out the instructions in PDF and was sort of surprised at the amount of "jerry-rigging" that seemed neccesary.

Thanks yeah that would help if I can meet you by your house. Maybe I will want to also add an Sigma Auto EV switch to my car that day though so I might need to just follow you. :p

Thanks for the website on the Sigma Auto EV switch but can you tell me more about it. I would appreciate it.

Cant make 1/28 due to classes and the fact we will still be celebrating spanking some Buckeye butt in the Fiesta Bowl. Go Irish!
2/4 or 2/12 work but by then Tony will be installing that EV button on himself.

1993 Pontiac Bonneville SSE that gets 21 MPG in good weather with A.C. off. Maybe my present company is skewing my view of what a gas guzzler is just a bit. ;-)
At least it's not as bad as my friend's 1984 Chevy Suburban that averaged about (no lie!) 7 MPG.

Say, is there anyone planning on attending from the McHenry County area with whom I could carpool? It would also spare me the embarrassment in showing up in such a boat....feels to me like showing up to a PETA meeting wearing fur. :)

I'm counting on January 28th at Noon.

  15. This sounds like fun. Tony told me that you folks might be interested in seeing the Highlander Hybrid, so we'll bring that instead of the Prius. Besides, if the weather is cold, it will be nice to have the heated seats in the Highlander! :)

Looking forward to meeting everyone on the 28th.

Not to put a potential damper on our event, but Eric of the Madison Hybrid Group has had their meeting scheduled on the same day since last October. Just food for thought!

Yes, I heard about the meeting on the same day in Madison, WI too. But you guys are closer. hehe. I will get to them another time. Always good to have another excuse to take a drive with my new Prius.

Yup, got it today. What a beauty. It really rocks.

C you guys Jan 28 at noon. I'm the one with the Wisconsin License Plate of:

    NOFUELN

and the plate holder that says:

THIS IS MY WAR ON TERRORISM

so, taken together they say, "This is my war on terrorism, no fooling errrr no fueling" :)

Go ahead, Steve, rub it in. . . :)

The simultaneous occurance of our and the Madison Group's meetups was a long-planned interstate conflaguration of interpersonal . . er, it was an accident.

360, next time the Madison Group has a meetup, I'll come up to your place and we can carpool to that one.
