This may be a dumb question.

I am about to summit the application for California HOV sticker. The forms I printed out from the web shows 2 copies on 1 single page PDF file. Do I submit both, or do I send half of that 1 page.

    Thanks in advance.

Sending in just one copy of the application did the job for me.

I'm going to just send in half the form (cut at the dotted line). Both top and bottom half are exactly the same.

Hello, just half of that form is needed. I downloaded this back in the summer and only had half in the PDF (another change is that my form did not ask for the year). I modified it so that I could type in the fields and then just print it out. This version (9/2005)www you can type directly into the fields with adobe acrobat professional.

Could you post the link to the form please. ;)

    Thanks

    Am I missing something?

    The link,
    http://www.dmv.ca.gov/forms/reg/reg1000.pdf

Brings up the Reader and open the file with two forms.
You can click on the blanks and start typing into the fields and check boxes.
You can't save it (unless you have Writer license), but you can print it.

    :)

And you can submit it WITHOUT getting a license plate, so you do not have to wait for the plates!

Not only did I get my HOV stickers before I got my plates, the spot on the certificate for the license plate number is empty. Not a big deal, I suppose, since the VIN is on there. I was just surprised that they would issue the stickers before even assigning a plate number...

Oh, I just send mine in this AM. I did not know you can actually type it in on the computer. I hope they can read my handwriting.

I had handwritten mine out as well and then decided to re-do it by typing it up on the computer. (thanks for the tip, ceric) I'm heading up to Fastrak in SF this morning to pick up my transponder before sending in all my paperwork.

    Update:
I received my plates over the weekend. (it took only 2 weeks). I've never received my plates this quickly before. However, my check for the stickers has not been cashed yet by DMV.

Nope.... just write "new vehicle" where "license plate" plate goes. All you need is the VIN. Mine took 6 weeks.

I just sent in the top half. I was really surprised that the CA DMV was smart enough to create an Adobe PDF form that let you fill in the blanks. Pretty high tech for the DMV!

The DMV cashed my check in about 10 calendar days and I got the stickers about 6 days later.

I'm getting a little nervous. My check has not been cashed yet and it's been about 12 days since it was mailed. What's the longest anyone has waited for their check to clear?

I called the DMV and was told to expect a 6-8 week wait.

My check took 18 days to cash, and I am on my 12th day waiting for my stickers to arrive. So, I don't think you need to worry. The averages I've been seeing are 2 weeks for cashing check and 2 weeks for stickers to be mailed.

Am I missing something? I brought up the PDF on my Mac, but I am unable to enter data directly in to it. Do I have to have Acrobat Pro to do that (as opposed to just a reader).

Come to think about it, I'm using Apple's "Preview" program, not an Adobe viewer. Is that the problem?
