If so , how is / was yor experience with it ? Any used oil analysis for it? Especially the SN/GF-5 . Thanks .
It's quality oil made by a respected manufacturer ... it's fine. I have 5 qts from when they had a $20 rebate on the 5 qt jug. I'd buy it again at that price. Normally use M1. For a Prius (or any normal car) .... oil is oil ... especially synthetics. REV
Pennzoil Platinum (PP) has given excellent results in oil analyses posted over on bobistheoilguy.com Just try to find it in 0W-20 the Northeast (I haven't!)...
I tried it about a 1 1/2 years ago. I changed my oil and added 4 quarts, not 4.4 so not to overfill, of 0w20 Penzoil Platinum pure synthetic motor oil. Note: When I change I only add 4 quarts in all my oil changes. Too much oil is not always a good thing.) Went 10,000 miles and changed it and just about all 4 quarts came out. Car ran great and I could see no difference in mpg's over Mobile One 0W20 synthetic oil. Currently I am using Toyota Brand 0W20 synthetic as It was only $5.50 per quart at case price.
Same here! I use it interchangeably with Mobil1 (I stock up whenever either brand is on sale) and see no difference at all in terms of mileage, color of oil when changed, amount burned/lost, etc. I consider it one of the "good ones". Andy
I probably would - if it were convenient for me to pick up. I haven't checked the price at my Toyota dealership, but after seeing this thread, I will next time I need oil. As it is, I have plenty of oil stocked up from sales at various stores - Advance Auto Parts, Pepboys, and others are more convenient for me to stop by than the dealership, so unless the cost savings through the dealer is significant, it probably wouldn't be worth the trip. Andy
M1 is more at regular price than the price my local dealer charges for the Toyota product. When the auto parts stores have M1 on sale it is maybe a dollar cheaper. I don't shop at Walmart so I am not including that in my figures. At 10k intervals non of it matters to me.
I was using it on my last oil run in my hybrid camry before I traded it for current prius and it seemed to be a well running lube
