Right. So I drive home tonight and I take my biz partner with me 'cause we're gonna drive down south to the birthday party of a friend of ours. I cruise up into the garage and we hop out. My friend, who is an ample 240 lbs (US), decides to vault up the climbing wall I built in the garage. Then he hops off and his big, fat nice person comes down right on top of my passenger side mirror!!! Snaps the little bugger like a twig. Nothing that duct tape can't fix (McGyver Lives!) but the thing's a wreck. So my question is... will the warranty cover it or is my buddy gonna be writing me a check?

uhhh... tell your friend to get out the checkbook... that's definitely not warranty material.

    good luck.

My guess is it isn't a manufacturer defect, and therefore your bud is going to be writing you a check...

Agreed, your buddy's nice person is not going to qualify as a mfg defect.

Perhaps they need to add this quote to the limits and exclusions section of the warranty.

    Haha.

Yeah... well that may be debatable. Guess I'll have to give the chaps at the service dept a ring. At least he didn't fall through the bloody windshield! Hopefully it won't cost him too much. This does give meaning to the expression "dumb nice person" though. :p

Did you think about giving your buddy a $10 gift certificate to Jenny Craig? Makes a great stocking stuffer!! :)

Useless gesture because of all the homebrew we drink! :D

In his defense... he is 6' 4'' so that 240 isn't as "big" as it might seem.

When a truck took off my passenger side mirror it cost about $345.00 for the mirror and $80.00 for the installation. However by the time I was able to pull over and stop somebody had already piced up the mirror. It took about a month to get everything replaced.

I hope your friend is luckier than I was.

    Two checks should do it.

    1. for damages
    2. for pain & suffering

Would you mind posting a picture tripp ? And please let us know what the repair costs. 'Nickel and Dimed' has something of a different meaning to Toyota Dealers than most people. You just may want to look for a part from a totaled Prius.

    Good Luck

Hey tripp, do you really NEED the miror? What would the impact on drag be without it? Perhaps your partner did a favor by improving the cD.

Maybe.. Passenger mirrors aren't required by law but they deffinately make lane changes easier.
