Vacuum cleaner

I think the 10,999 of us members that didn't respond want to know the answer as well. The one I have now doesn't suck very well so it totally sucks. Its purple but I can't find a manufactring label on it.

 

we have a kenmore bagless upright. 2.5 years old. we won't be buying another kenmore, let's put it that way.

 

I have been using a Craftsman, 1 horse, small wet/dry vac for a couple of years. Works better then anything I have ever used.

 

My parents' vacuum cleaner sales/repair guy is not a big fan of DirtDevil or Eureka. They have this fabulous Royal carpet cleaner (it's too posh to be a vacuum). Personally, my Hoover a la WalMart does the job for me, but I steal my Dad's ShopVac for the car.

 

I am for the most part with the others here you use a shop vac when it comes to cleaning my cars. Never found that cordless vacs had enough power to do anything but pick up loose dirt... I did just take my floormats out and clean them with my bissell spot lifter... I dont think I would use it on the seats though since it realy does not do a geat job of sucking the moisture back out.

 

I use a Eureka cordless upright for my hardwood floors. I don't have carpet (hate it). I also have a canister and upright Electrolux (they work well and are indestructible). The new ones are cheaper and not as good. Look for a used one on eBay.

Don't buy the hype on the Oreck either. Overpriced and just an average vacuum.

I have this Korean one called a Riccar, it's over 12 years old and still sucks pretty good. The bags are hard to find and a little spendy though.

Edit: Actually mine is a house vacuum (is that the only word with two ues together?) but it has a hose that plugs in to it and it works great on cars also.

 

Get a Dyson. We got the Animal and it was worth every penny. This thing really sucks!

 

I have the Shark Transformer for my 2 small area rugs and my acid stained concrete. It is bagless, does a great job in the car and in the house. You do have to empty the chamber after each room (I don't know why there is still hair on the Samster with the amount that is shed in my house and car!!) I also use a dryer sheet infront of my first filter to extend its life and change that as needed. I have had it for 6 months now and still really like it.

 

Cordless are toys. I bought one of those small red ones (plug-in) at Walmart, forgot the name. Its a wet/dry. Use it for taking water out of my boat hatches also. I just leave it in my garage and plug it in to use it. Much handier than fiddleing with the 12VDC outlet and turning on Acc mode. Lots of suction. There are of coarse much more powerful ones, but more aukward to use and more expensive and of course NOT portable.

 

I, like some others, use the shop vac for the car. BUT I bought a little Dirt Devil bagless for my mom to use in her Corolla. This thing has POWER! It does have a cord, but comes with a pretty long one. It also has a flexible hose that attaches so one can reach those tight places. Not a bad deal at all.

 

My regular vaccuum is a Eureka Maga Boss, from Sears. Perfectly adequate. I also have a Craftsman hand-held cordless, which works sort of okay, but I sure would not want to clean a 5X7 rug with it. It works for sucking loose hairs off the sink.

For one 5X7 rug, don't buy a vaccuum at all: Hang it over a clothes line and beat it with a stick, like people used to do. Probably get it cleaner that way, too.

 

My only recommendation is negative: the Dirt Devil (Dust Devil?) hand-held vacuum does not suck very well. (I.e., it sucks poorly.)

 

They said the same thing about Paris Hilton.
